david_dawei
Anyone want to take stab at concisely explaining the various agencies and their involvement in the K1 vs K3 process? I'd like to put this in the FAQ... I'm thinking of : INS, USCIS, NVC, DOS, GUZ, Chicago lockbox, etc. Maybe also using the proper words at the proper step: Petition, application, etc... tywy_99
I don't think the k3 can be explained any better than this, David. FEDERAL REGISTER However, we can explain our experiences like they do on other immigration portals and I guess that's basically what we do here. For example, the K3 is good for 2 years and... hhmm,,,my stepdaugher's K4 expires next month....yes indeed,,,,hhmmm Excuse me, I'm thinking..brb..... Link to comment
david_dawei
great link! I added this to the FAQ Visa... I guess I looking for a very short description of the process, telling what agency handles it along the way and what they do, etc... This would be so that users unfamiliar with the process can see it in short. Like: K1: petition goes to USCIS who is responsible for ... After approval, this is forwarded to NVC who is responsible for ... Forwarded to GUZ and this becomes an application for visa... what role DOS has vs NVC and who to call when... Link to comment
david_dawei
Gene.. I stole this from another thread you responded to... since it is the basis of what I was looking for Since you have sent in your I-129f right now you are waiting for NOA1(Notice of Action) this lets you know that your petition was recieved, usually takes about 2 to 3 weeks to get. Next you are waiting for approval of that petition and then you will recieve an NOA2(P-2) or an approval, check USCIS web site for processing dates to figure time. From there your petition is sent to NVC(National Visa Center) in Portsmouth New Hampshire where it undergoes futher processing which includes a security check, which can take anywhere from 2 weeks to a year, most are processed in two to four weeks. You can call the NVC at this time and get the GUZ (Guangzhou) number that is assigned. After approval the NVC sends the petition to Guangzhou and it "ages' in a warehouse there usually for about 30 days and is then input into the computer and a P-3 is generated and sent to your SO. Upon her return of the documents requested it is then processed through another security check and queued up for the interview date at which time a P-4 would be sent to your SO. P-3 to P-4 time used to be 5 to 6 months, but it apears to be quickening up as of late.161249[/snapback] --- What I want to have clarified is: 1) I-129F/K1: The petition becomes an application at the return of the P3 (DS-230 to be specific is the 'application' for a visa--and I think this is same for K3) ?? 2) I-129F/K3: To chicago office, then NBC then NVC then to GUZ ?? ANd whats happening at each step ?? 3) I-130/CR1: First USCIS visa center then to NVC for the paper shuffle with the 'agent'... then to GUZ... P4 to beneficiary.. interview ?? Link to comment
