Work Permit Appointment

My wife told me today that since we'd applied for the work permit over 90 days ago that we can make our appointment online, so we did. However, I haven't received notice that our AOS has been approved. Any thoughts?

The EAD (work permit) is not dependent on the approval of the I-485 (AOS application). Indeed if the I-485 were approved you wouldn't need it. She would have a green card instead.

I'm guessing what you mean when you say "approved" I-485 is receiving the I-797 receipt notice of the I-485 instead.

In that case you can file the I-765 because at that point, your I-485 is "pending" rather than "approved." In fact, the I-765 asks something about the I-485 status.

Moreover, the I-765 EAD cannot be filed without a pending I-485.

It allows her to work until she gets her green card.

It's a cute little ID card, much like a driver's license, with her picture and fingerprint on it. And it is from the Department of Homeland Security because it says so! The only problem with it is that it cost way much more than a driver's license and is only good for one year!........
