OK!!! How does this K-3 visa works??????

OK, I thought I knew how this works but I must be wrong.I am doing a K-3 visa and I have my approved NOA-2. I called NVC and they gave me a GUZ number,but where does my case go next? I thought to Guz,China but they told me today that it is still being background checked,is this right? if so then how long for the background check before they send it to GUZ,china????please help clear this up for me.thanks for everyones help.

You got it right Dan. The paperwork will eventually go to GZ, but NVC coordinates the background checks before the files are shipped off. How long the check takes is very hard to predict. It could be as short as a few weeks or as long as one year. But, you're at the right place. You can periodically punch up DOS to get a status check.

Like Frank said. You can also call NVC back to get the date it was sent out and then track the packages through DHL. Average from date NVC sent to Guangzhou to receipt of P-3 is 45 days.
