USCIS Ombudsman's Report

Recommended Posts

I sent an email to this place where the report came from here is the response.

Dear Mr. Se_lang,(yes changed from real)

Thank you for contacting the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman. The Ombudsman is dedicated to identifying systemic problems in the immigration benefits process and recommending solutions to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services ("USCIS"). Our office echoes the sentiments of President George W. Bush that together 'as a nation that values immigration and depends on it, we should have immigration laws that work and make us proud.'

If you are experiencing difficulty with a particular immigration case, please utilize the following resources before submitting a case status inquiry to the Ombudsman:

1) The USCIS National Customer Service Center may be accessed online at http://uscis.gov/graphics/services/NCSC.htm or by calling (800) 357-5283

2) The USCIS.gov online case status may be accessed at https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp.

These sources of information can resolve many frequently asked questions including: what are the appropriate forms to file, where is the proper place to file your forms, as well as give information regarding the status of a particular case.

After using these resources, if you still wish to submit an inquiry to the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman, please send a formal typed or written inquiry via US mail in accordance with the instructions contained on our website: http://www.dhs.gov/cisombudsman. We will review your inquiry and if appropriate, forward it to USCIS for further action.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you.

Yes, they only accept questions and comments through regular mail. But I think it is worth the effort. A call from that office to your service center could help your case. Why don't you send them a letter with background, then call? That's the only way things get done. Here's the number for the office of the Ombudsman, Prakash Khatri: (202) 357-8100.

I don't think it makes as nice a presentation as a mailed letter, but you could fax them if you are lazy: (202) 357-0042.

Be nice. They are not the stupid hotline people.

oh I must note this also happened to me(moved) I sent the AR-11 to where it was supposed to go but after I spoke to the lady at the AOS office she told me I was supposed to send it to the address at the bottom of the I-797 this is because she has not been issued a CGC or GC yet.
