  1. Good day, My interview day is coming up soon and there are couple things i am not sure about, so please tell me if i understood everything correctly: 1) Security regulations says that its not allowed to bring your mobile phone with you, but if my memory is fine, i remember that at the entrance of the Consulate there are some lockers where i could leave my phone and bag, can anyone confirm if i am right? 2) if i understood correctly, i do not have to pay anything at the Consulate on the day of the interview, but later, when the visa is in the pasport( but i am not yet at the USA) i must pay the USCIS immigrant fee, is that correct? Thank you for your help, Natalia
  2. Hello, everyone! I have a question - while we were waiting for approval of i-130 and so on our marrige had our 2nd year anniversary. Yesterday we got an email regarding the appointment for the interview. But in order to do that we have to chose the category of the visa. Do we have to select CR1 (as it mentioned at the i-130) or IR1 (because last week we had 2nd year anniversary)? Kind regards, Nataliia
  3. I'm newly married (just as of yesterday to be exact). There's been no wedding, just the registration part. Next week my husband and I will prepare a date for the wedding that will probably be around October or November. I haven't been back to the states in almost two years. My husband has never been. He and I have been together for two years and we were going to wait a few more months (and closer to a wedding date) to register, but then I, thinking it would be easier to do it this way, wanted to at least register and be husband and wife legally so maybe it would be easier for him to go America to visit my family before the actual wedding. We've been looking into getting a tourist visa for over a year now. I've been assured that he would never get into America on his own because he doesn't own property in China and doesn't have enough money in his bank account. So this is what made us make the decision to marry a few months earlier than we expected to. I desperately need some advice as I navigate this visa process and if anyone thinks we are getting the wrong visa, please let me know. I need to say we have no wish to immigrate. we want to stay in China. I've just accepted a new job, he is working as a real estate agent. His family his here. Our live is here. In the future, MAYBE, but not now, not any time soon. What steps should I be taking now? What will help me? What won't? Any advice will be greatly appreciated and if I didn't explain myself clearly I'll be happy to explain myself more clearly. KGS
  4. Hello, A situation has come up for me and my wife, where we may have the opportunity to adopt a baby in China from someone near my wife's hometown. We are both US citizens, and currently reside in the US. I understand that without going through the Hague convention process, that there is a two year custody and residence requirement before being able to bring back the adopted child. Circumstances in our life are such that moving to China for a couple of years or more is a possibility, and we are now seriously considering this idea. We are wondering, if anyone has any experience or know of people that have gone through this process? Being that we are both US citizens, will this process be fairly simple after the two-year requirement has been approved? Additionally, is there going to be an issue proving that we were living with the child for two years, as long as we have the legal adoption papers from the Chinese court, and the visa/work documents showing our stay in China, as long as many beautiful photos of our family together, which I am sure we will have many? I just was not sure whether this non-Hague process is a viable option, or is it a process that often comes with a lot of uncertainties and difficulties. Any advice or feedback on the situation would be greatly appreciated. We are very excited about this possibility, but also worried that there may be complications that we are unaware of. Thank you so much.
