  1. Hi All, My wife passed her citizenship interview about 3 and a half weeks ago. She hasn’t yet received the notice for the oath ceremony, and in 2 weeks we are moving to another state. For anyone who has recently gone through this process, would you speculate that we’ll have the oath ceremony within the next 2 weeks? Also, are these ceremonies typically held on Saturdays? It would be so great to have the ceremony before we move so we can avoid changing the appointment (and maybe even having to change the address we have registered at USCIS). After my wife’s interview, they told her she would have her citizenship in time to vote, so this gives us hope… Thank you for any input!
  2. I am filling out the N-400... Obviously... Section 9 A. About listing kids. I read the instructions and I still am not entirely sure what to put. I have 3 kids from a previous marriage. One is grown up and gone, other two are still living with me. My wife is the step mom and the one applying for citizenship. Do I put them down in this section? It says how many sons and daughters have you had. She has not had any, she is my kids step mom.... confused what to put.
  3. "You were scheduled to appear for an interview on your application for Naturalization on Wednesday, October 03, 2012 at 09:20 AM. Our records indicate you failed to appear for this interview. You have thirty (30) days from the date of this notice to explain why you did not appear. Failure to respond to this notice will result in your application being administratively cloxed without further action." This was on a form I-797C received by my stepson yesterday. He's in school in Seattle and has a USPS PO Box, but he never received the interview notice from them. There is an 800 number and a USCIS mailing address at the bottom of the 797C form . Should he call the number or write a letter? Don't know why he didn't get the interview appointment notice, and I don't know exactly how to handle this......................any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Hank
  4. Seriously, the people at USCIS are retarded jerks, and that's about the nicest thing I can say about them. We applied for my wife's US Citizenship and got the notice for the "final" biometrics, scheduled for January 19th. On the 19th we head down to DHS/USCIS in a pretty ugly snowstorm and fight our way down to Tukwila where the office is. Traffic was just insane, driving conditions were gruesome, but we weren't going to miss this appointment for ANYTHING. We get down there only to find out that DHS has closed the building due to snow. (WTF?? I mean, WE could get there, why couldn't they??) So anyway, the office is closed. We get back home and I call USCIS. We're told just to "sit tight" and that since they were the ones that canceled the appointment they would reschedule it and contact us. So we wait. And wait. And wait. Over the next 3 weeks I call them 4 times asking when we can expect to hear from them. Each time we're told to "be patient", "sit tight", and not to worry, that they'll contact us. They wouldn't tell us how long it might be before we heard from them. Estimates ranged from "a couple of weeks" to "six months" (!!!). Yesterday I called again and wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. After a bit of yelling and arm-twisting we're told that it's our responsbility to contact USCIS for a new appointment, even though they were the ones that canceled it. WTF?? That's right- if we'd just sat passively we would have been waiting until the Sun burned out, because USCIS "does not and will not reschedule appointments" that they cancel due to weather. You have to contact them, even if they're the ones that screwed everything up. What a bunch of a-holes. So we sent them a certified, return-receipt letter requesting a new appointment, and we requested that they expedite it because we lost nearly a month due to their incompetence. We'll see what happens. *^&@%!
  5. Sent out our N-400 app Monday. We sent the following with it: (Taken from cover page) Form G-1145 E-Notification of Application/Petition AcceptanceN-400 Application for NaturalizationPhotocopy of both sides of Permanent Resident Card(2) 2” x 2” photosCheck in the amount of $680.00Marriage-related evidenceCopy of spouse’s birth certificateCopy of spouse’s passportCopy of marriage certificateCopy of child’s birth certificateCopy of child’s social security cardEvidence of joint bank account since 11/19/2007Copy of deed to houseCopy of taxes (Joint Return)201020092008 It was received and signed by C THORNQUIST the next day in Dallas, Texas. Here's hoping for a speedy application so we can begin the I-130 for each parent. We also have to figure out what to do with her sister back in China. She's still under 21. The system's broke.
  6. My wife finally received the I-797C for the N-400 (Naturalization) today. She mailed her application on 8/8/07. The notice said she should expect to be notified within 365 days for interview. That is a long time. At least we don't have to worry if the the check (for the $675) has expired.
