  1. We submitted the I-751 on Oct 1st they received it Oct 3rd and got a text Oct 9th that they received it. We had not received the letter yet. I called them yesterday and was told that there is some glitch in there system for I-751 Was told a letter was sent to us Oct 22nd which we did not receive. The woman said since it was past the 30 days and we didn't receive the NOA 1 18 month extension letter that she would issue another. She then verified our mailing address and said we should get it 15 -30 days from now...hope to get it soon in Pa, they only issue driver licenses up to your expiration on green card which is in 6 weeks. The driver center says it take 4 weeks or longer to verify your extension to get a renewal on drivers licenses and then only for the 18 month period. Ouch wish they would figure this out $90 each time as well to get new licenses each time. Her job requires a valid licenses......

Starting from Oct. 1, 2018, tourists are able to visit Chongqing's Dazu Rock Carvings scenic area for lower entrance fees. The carvings date from the 9th to 13th centuries and were placed on the World Heritage List by the UNESCO in 1999. (Xinhua/Wang Quanchao) http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1121688.shtml

Randy I have been to the Dazu Rock Carvings there and can say its worth the visit if you get over that way, Some how it was not touched during the culture revolution.

  3. Bparks777,

We are in a similar situation. Sent packet out on Oct 1st I received a text on the Oct.9th saying case was received and gave be number starting with LIN (Nebraska) check was cashed today. My wife's drivers license expires same day as her Green Card. They won't renew with out extension letter. When I check case on the USCIS site it says

    WE received your case

You do not need to do anything at this time...

We will let you know if we need anything else from you as we continue to review your case

    that's it...

  4. My wife eats at the dinner table with me, and will spend time at her desk reading, studying English and chatting on wechat or QQ. She also spends time taking care of plants inside and out and always starting some clipping from plant she finds. will also sit with me on the sofa to watch a movie..she prefers action movies I guess easier to follow in English.....She has a new love now "Cosco", she buys stuff there, some made in China and sends back says prices are cheaper here on some things and makes a few dollars doing it somehow. even had my daughter put on some tops to model them and then puts on her social media for family and friends. She does it more because she enjoys the social part of it..

  5. Ok still a little confusing, Does her clock start ticking now that we have a priority date even though it has not been approved yet or is it 7 years from approval? If 7 years from approval that could take 9 years ( 2 to approval and 7 to be called) Also when my wife sent in I-130 for her over 21 daughter she did list grand daughter on form section C where it asks to list spouse or children of relative. Do we have to do a spate petition for grand daughter now or does daughter do that later?

  6. Ok , So they go by the priority date that we just got from submitting the application , so about seven years from March 11th ,2017. That's good I thought it might start after receiving the available visa number which would of added 2 years. Going to try and convince my wife to have daughter apply for visitor visa, she was hesitant because 165 to apply but another 300 for traveling to consulate.

  7. We decided to file the I-130 for my wife 30 year old single daughter. I wanted to have her apply for visitor visa first but she got advice from an agency in China that there is no way her daughter would get a visitor visa while we wait out the I-130 process.

We received the I-797 and were assigned to California service center WAC********** My question is does the 6 to 7 year wait start from the day they received the application? I see that at that service center they are working on May 2015 for approvals of unmarried children over 21 was hoping the clock doesn't start ticking after the approval. Can anyone who was in this situation share how that works when the clock starts...Thank you

  8. Probably Dan.

All my wife's family have been to visit us, and all got 10 year visas.

Getting the visa is the hardest, but just need to show they have good reason to return to China.

I don't think they are near as hard to get as they have been in the past.

    Hi,

I was wondering what kind of evidence is best to show reason to return. My wife's single 30 year old daughter would like to come visit. She has a 5 year old daughter been divorced 2 years. She would come alone. She owns her own home and has a small business in China. Credzba, I see you said several of your wifes family were able to get the green card any advice?

  9. I have a 30 year old divorced ( 2 years) step daughter and 4 year old grand daughter. My wife is here is the US with me still on her 2 year conditional green card. We would like them to come live with us. Can we apply for them now? If yes who would apply me or my wife. We would of like for them to come for a visit but guessing that's out of the question being she is single and 30 and getting them a visitor visa is so slim. She is a business owner and owns her own home if that even matters . She wants to be close to her mom. Any advise or suggestion would be appreciated.

  10.

That's what I was afraid of. I had read somewhere that they asked at point of entry to change name and they did, sounded a little to easy.

Many states allow a common law name change - the wife can assume her chosen name with no legal entanglement. If already married (NOT K-1), show them the marriage certificate and ask at the POE - if they will do it for you, then, yes, it really is that easy.

Really, If she shows them the red book /white book at POE they might issue her the green card in my last name? Has anyone here done that?

  11. I was wondering to how to go about name change. We married in China she kept her last name. We are waiting on the Visa now ( it had to go back to consular because a tear in the package) We want to change her name to my last name and were wondering how to do that. Do some people get married here as well and do it then? Has anybody else got married in China and then had wife take your last name here?

  12. Thanks guys....Looking forward to her coming. The plan is for her to come end Dec. so she doesn't loose her year end bonus and then she gets a 30 day vacation which she will use to come for 30 days then go back home and do retirement paper work. Is there any guide lines on leaving after a month to return home for 6 weeks to tie up affairs? Then back to US

  13. Wanted to let everyone know that my wife had her interview on Sept. 28th and was approved. We started this process in March I was surprised how quickly it went. I learned so much on this sight and VJ. Also from a few people on here who I had the chance to speak with. I filed the paper work myself. Guangzhou was a very cool city we spent a week there exploring. Very easy to get around with the subway system.

  14. Hang in there, Perry! :) you;'re closing in on it now.

When Rose and Kerry came here at the end of January, it took almost exactly one month for the green cards to arrive. Granted, that was several months ago now, but it should give you an idea.

and yes, after passing the interview, she'll get her CR1. In Rose's case, that took about 2 weeks to get to her, after the interview.

    Thanks Wawster
