  1. In part 5 of the I-864, section 3. says to put "0" if unmarried, "1" if married. I am married and sponsoring my husband on the I-864 and don't want to count him twice. Should I leave this area blank or put "0?"

If my income was a negative amount how can I enter this on the form? It won't allow me to put a negative amount.

  2. 1. I would indicate total income.

    2. 6.371 RMB = $1 http://www.x-rates.com/calculator/?from=USD&to=CNY&amount=1

Note, the consulate is more concerned with your income after moving to the states, so also attach evidence that you have a job, or a job offer in the states, if not, then a Joint Sponsor will be required.

    Thanks for your response

My other question is if we have a joint sponsor does his total income also should be over poverty line or it can be under it because he is a joint sponsor?

the other question is should the joint sponsor claim the beneficiary on his tax files every year from now on as by sponsoring the beneficiary the household will increase?

    Thanks again

  3. Hi everyone,

We have a few more questions about the I-864:

    1. For the Federal Income Tax Return Information in Part 6 section 19 - do you suggest putting down your actual income or total income? After my foreign tax exemption my total income is $0 for all 3 years. However, it says on the form to put your total income so I don't want to put inaccurate information on there. Advice?
    2. If my salary is in RMB which exchange rate should I use to transfer it to USD?

    Thank you!

  4. When submitting tax transcripts with the I-864 do you need to submit one ordered with the 4506t form or is the one ordered from the IRS website ok? On the IRS website it says you can order a tax return transcript via online but it doesn't mention this is ok on the instructions page for the I-864. Has anyone used this method? Any advice, please?

  5. Hello,

Does anyone know what kind of documentation you should submit with the sponsorship form if you don't have any W-2s? All of my income was earned in China. Is a stamped letter from my company stating the amount of money I earned enough to prove my income? Are my certified tax returns enough?

    Thanks!

  6. Hello everyone

We have just chosen our pick up location for my passport and dont undestand why at the confirmation page it says "Trip Purpose: Registeration". Is this the correct information or have we filled something incoreectly?

My other question is what is the difference between "Pick Up" and 'Premium Delivery"?

Thanks for your time and help!

  7. I have a few more questions about the DS-260 that I hope someone can help with:

    1. When I fill in my phone number under "petitioner's phone number" it only allows me to enter a U.S. number. I don't currently have one other than my father's, which is also the house number for my mailing address. Is there a way for me to enter my Chinese phone number, or should I just enter my U.S. number?
    2. My husband isn't quite sure which occupation he will enter once in the U.S. For the question "In which occupation do you intend to work in the U.S., should he put "other" and for the explanation write "unsure," or is it best to choose his best guess?

    Thanks for your help!

  8. 1. NO (US Citizen is not an immigrant) they may be traveling with but they are not immigrating. This question has to do with a derivative visa such as a spouse of a married son/daughter of a US Citizen.

    2. Is this after being denied a visit visa? Just simply state was denied a visit visa.

    3. Yes that is an odd question, I would simply say yes.

    4. Yes, (No, would be the answer if he already has a SSN)

    5. The address where you currently reside, there is a question further on asking where the applicant will live upon arrival in the states, there is where you would indicate your domicile address.

    Thanks for your advice !

  9. Hi everyone,

We have several DS-260 questions I hope someone can help answer:

    1. For the "Family Information: Spouse" section, when they ask if your spouse (a U.S. citizen) is immigrating to the U.S. with you, do we answer "yes" or "no"? We will be travelling to the U.S together after my husband receives his visa.
    2. My husband was denied a U.S. visa under Section 214(b). For the part that it asks to explain why he was denied a visa, what do we write? Is simply "denied under Section 214(b) ok?
    3. For the documentation of vaccination question, my husband doesn't currently have these documents but will when he goes for his interview after he gets his medical check. Should we put yes or no?
    4. Should my husband put "yes" that he wants to apply for a SSN?
    5. Should the petitioner's address be my physical address in Beijing or my domiciled address in the U.S.?

Thanks for your help and support!

  10. Hello everyone!

I have the same question about "petitioner's address and phone number" on DS-260. We used our current address in china for this part as we are living together here. is it right ?

After We filled petitioner's phone number (current phone number in China), it got changed to American style phone number and lost some digits. would you please tell us how we should fill the phone number?

    Thanks for your help!

  11. Hi everyone,

We are getting ready to submit our I-864 Affidavit of Support and I have several questions I am hoping someone can help answer:

    1. Should the mailing address be the sponsor's domicile address and the residence be our home in China?
    2. How do you write an explanation and provide documentary evidence of domicile?
    3. Does the sponsor (me) need to enter myself into Part 6, Section 6.a.? According to the I-864 instructions page, you are supposed to enter income entered in section 5 into section 6.c. as well, but this doesn't make sense to me, especially since in section 11 it acts as though I am not supposed to.
    4. Is foreign-earned income accepted? I have heard several mixed answers about this.
    5. Should I include my current bank account sum in Part 7,Section 1, even if my income is more than 125% above the poverty line?

Thanks in advance for your support!

  12. Hi everyone

  13.

Sorry for asking too many questions . do we need to attach the orginal notarized translation of marriage certificate ( white book that Gong Zheng Chu gave to us) and notarized translation of birth certificate ? or is the copy of them enough ?

    Thanks alot

USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.

Also forgot to mention another form to attach is G-1145 to get emails http://www.uscis.gov/g-1145

    Thank you very much Dan

    Hi

i was reading question No.22 again , and i found it has two sections :

the first section is :your relative is in united states and apply for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident at the USCIS office in :

    ------------------(city) ,-------------(state)

the second section : if your reative is not eligible for adjustment of status ,he or she will apply for a visa abroad at the American consular post in :

    --------------(city), ----------------(country)

the first part is not applicable to us as beneficiary is not in united states. but what about the second part ? should i fill it out and put Guangzhou , China as the place which interview will take place?what do you think about it ?

thanks again for all of your help
