My wife got her visa today. It's funny, it's been SO long that I don't feel anything, if you can understand that. I think I've been so tired from the separation and the visa process that it hasn't hit me yet. In answer to the above post, #2 said to wait for further processing. They wrote that in. Thanks again to everyone here who helped out. I appreciate it.

MY wife got the call-in letter today. It's very strange, though. #2 is checked, but nothing else is checked or written in. Has that ever happened to anyone else?

thanks to everyone here! It's funny, everyone says to "be patient" and most who do don't really understand what it's like - to live with your wife for four years than be separated for a year. Many here know exactly what it's like and I thank everyone who's given advice and help and encouragement. Speaking of which, I should sit down and do the time line sometime this week!

I sent an email to GUZ yesterday for ANY clarification on my wife's case. She had been under administrative processing for over two months now. They responded today telling me her visa is approved and they'll be sending her a call-in letter. I was actually stunned. I didn't think the email would come to anything at all. I think I'm still in shock.

Got the letter today, what's the next step?

He was interviewed by the USCIS, before his NOA2 (remember he's filing DCF), due to "complications". Not for the visa, but in order to approve the petition. Only he can elaborate. Yes, almost a week after filing my petition (DCF - I went to Chengdu and paid the filing fee, then mailed it to Beijing) I came back to the States (Seattle). Three months later they call my wife (DHS office in Beijing) and tell us we must come in for an interview. Notice the "must". We re-schedule it from July (I just started a job July 1st) to September (no interviews in August because of the Olympics). The interview went well, they just wanted to make sure our relationship was bonafide, partially because I left right after filing it, so they didn't want to forward he applciation to Guangzhou without seeing us. It was a pain in the ass to schedule and finance, but it made getting a white impossible. I would recommend HK as well, in retrospect, that's what I should have done. -

Well, it looks like GUZ is still working on things. They've sent a letter to my boss, making sure that the employment letter is sent is true. I guess I should be hearing about her visa very soon now. I'm crossing fingers!! -

She is not. My wife got blue. The shameless bastards at GUZ told her they "just need more time to think about it". I've never heard some crap like that before. Regardless, they told her they'll send her something in the mail after Chinese New Year. What pieces of work. I'd like to rip some heads off just for making my wife cry. -

Unfortunately not. Work commitments keep me here in Seattle. In some ways I'm happy we won't be getting white. Since I had the interview with DHS in Beijing and they validated our relationship as "bonafide", I'm not worried there. I'm worried about getting blue. If we get pink, I may expand on our complications, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm so excited and worried about the same time! -
I taught English in China for four of my five years there. I could probably write a couple papers on the subject; though, I have not taught in Universities. I have taught every age group from toddlers to 50-some-odd. Your experience varies based on where you are, how well you speak Chinese (yes, I said Chinese), how old you are and what country you're from. As far as pay goes, you'll need a bachelor's (Master's is better these days), one of the teaching certs and the ability to haggle!

Called the hotline, P4 was sent out today!! Interview scheduled for Jan 21st! Is it too soon to get my hopes up? Who am I kidding, I'm excited! -
some would argue that while you could separate them, you would lose some of the benefits gained by doing so. The practice of zen and it's "no mind" philosophy works hand-in-hand with many of the internal arts especially ones which benefit from breath control.

thats like saying the atom bomb is christian. kungfu is wushu not Buddhist I have to disagree with you on this point. Gongfu and wushu are very different, especially these days. The acrobatic flying around you see and the cartwheels and flips for no good reason, that is wushu. I think of it more as modern dance than anything else. Real gongfu you rarely see these days unless you go looking for it. Gongfu, in its origins was created as an exercise to keep the bodies of the monks fit, as it seemed they meditated and got fatter and fatter and..well, you get my drift. The different styles that emerged later came from natural observation and necessity. Things like the animal styles are said to come from the observations of animals, while things like the Da Mo Quan have their origins alll the way back to when Buddhism first came to China. To separate gongfu and Buddhism is almost impossible. I spent quite a bit of time learning gongfu and its history while I lived in a temple in northern China and I can tell you that every history of gongfu that was thoroughly researched seems to say the same. My 2 cents.

Thanks for all the help!! When I get over this sinus infection and have a clear enough head, I'll add in my data to the timeline. -
So we got the letter today from USCIS saying "your visa petition has been approved" and "my petition to classify the beneficiary as an immediate relative has been forwarded to the USCG Guangzhou". my question regards the next step. I've seen the time lines for the CR-1, but I'm still unclear as those don't seem to take into account DCF applications like my own. Is the I-864 the next step here?

Can't get ahold of the US Consulate in Beijing
bmic replied to cguo7's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
I've always had lunch after lunch time, between 2:30pm -4:30pm local time. Whenever I tried calling during the morning, i never got anyone. I've gotten a hold of an actual person about 4 or 5 times total. I'm not even going to tell you how many times I've tried.
