  1. Pioneers with red scarf is for the elementary school, age fewer than 12.

Youth league is for people between ages 12 to 25. And no one become a member of Pioneer or Youth league automatically either. Depends on your behavior at elmentary school, you get the opportunity to join pioneer in different grade. For the youth league, you need to fill application, write an essay about why you want to join, and find two members as you references.

  2. Unlike being a democrat or a republican, all you need to do is just sign up. Chinese communist party is very selective. It's not an easy thing to become a member. Communism is a belief; to me it's just another kind of region. It deceives the same respect as all others. I don't believe in communism, but I respect the people who truly believe in it.

In package 3, there are specific questions about the political group petition attended after 16, I put youth league there. And VO has no problem with it. Why lie when truth doesn't hurt.

It's an honor to be the first three joined the youth league in my class while I was 12.

  3. About H1 Visa, you need to find a company as a sponsor, they need to give your a job offer, and the salary should be the average/above wage for the position of the state. The company also needs to show prove there is no American people can do the job. They are supposed to run ads in the local paper for certain period. To keep the H1 Visa valid, you need to be employed all the time. There is a quote for H1-visa every year. And since it's non-immigration visa, if she/he has a fiancée in US, it's the ground for deny.

  4. Hi all,

Just thought I'd share some info with you. Yan and I had our AOS interview on July 10, 2003. It was very short 5-10 minutes total. After the interview we were told it would take several monthes to get the actual green card. Then, last week Yan received a 'Welcome' letter stating she would receive her green card in the next three weeks. On Sat. (7/26/2003) she received the card in the mail.

She also received a second 'Welcome' letter on the 26th. On Monday (7/28/2003) she received a third 'Welcome' letter. I gues the BCIS really wants to make sure she feels welcome. :greenblob:

3 'Welcome' letters in less than a week...think she'll get anymore? :greenblob:

Good luck to everyone in the process.

  6. Tine & Ella,

Sorry to hear that. I do know the fingerprint fee for Ella is required but I'm not sure about her daughter.

Yan called the following INS number with her questions about AOS... 1-800-375-5283.

Hopefully they can answer that question for you.

  7. If you have a K1 Visa, and already got married can you apply for a Temporary 90-day EAD (Authorized for work) card?

    Shi2Tou5,

    Hope this helps...

After Yan and I got married we went to the local BCIS office and received the temporary EAD card that was good for 90 days. After filing the AOS paperwork and getting a receipt in the mail we went back to BCIS and picked up the 1 year EAD card.

  8. Hi all,

It's been a while since I've posted... just wanted to give a quick update.

Yan and I have the AOS interview on July 10 which will bring us one step closer to completing the BCIS paper trail...

I hope the rest of you have a smooth time with your visas and AOS process.

  9. Eric,

When Yan came back to the U.S. we went to the local INS office and she received a Temporary EAD card.

    The temporary EAD card was:

    - Issued the same day

    - Free, no filing fee

    You are right in that:

    - It is only good during the time the K1 is good for: 90 days

    - There is a $120 filing fee for the 1 year EAD card.

I guess it depends on when Yuhui plans on working. Yan and I filed our AOS on 1/22/03 and are still waiting for a receipt so we can file for the 1 yr. EAD card.

    Just my 2 cents...

    Mike & Yan
