  1. I just got a beautiful RFE in the mail as well. The additional documents they requested just dont exist. We dont have any will's or trust, life insurance, mortgages or lease payments.

We have been living with my parents for the past 2 years so I think the only thing I can send in is the 2012 tax return, all our bank statements from the last 2 years(I only send the first month I added her and the latest month), Dan mentioned a school record, I could send her school transcript but not sure what that would do.

I thinking about writing a affidavit explaining my situation that we are in and having my parents sign it.

  2. There was a lot of talk about salary in this thread and I definitely would not be doing it for the money. A place to stay and 3 meals a day would satisfy me, the experience of being able to live in China would be priceless.

  3. Just a word of advice, while the yang's are great advice and I've heard they provide support before the interview, imagine all the couples that have slept in those beds after months if not years of being apart. You can use your imagination here. I don't think they are affiliated with Marc Ellis though.

We opted to stay in a holiday inn and I was not happy with the quality of the room there (Had a t.v from the 90's) We moved into a hotel chain that was fairly cheap. You can go on www.ctrip.com and scout some hotels near the consulate. The subway system is very convenient, and It drops you of near the consulate. Taxi's are fairly cheap there as well, $2-$3 for us when I took them from our hotel.

    Good Luck!

  4. LOL tsap! Your getting some OT, my new profession!!! I would love to treat you, you mean E-stimulation, its some good stuff!! Listen to your OT and follow the exercises and keep your shoulder active, the last thing you want is a frozen shoulder. I bet you do a lot of "pendulum exercises" and "finger ladder" exercises lol. Hope you get better man!

As for shopping, Macy's has a great deal on those discount racks sometimes!

  5. June is a very expensive time to travel apparently. I checked www.ctrip.com for you and the cheapest tickets I found were $50-$60 one way and about the same to come back from Shanghai to Nanchang. Your looking at about $120 a person round trip from shanghai to nanchang. You need to act now if you want to cash in on these savings because the tickets will get sold fast, because these prices are early bird specials By the way, the days I used were May 25th and June 13th as the returned date. It also has rate table on top of the webpage though that shows what the cost would be around those dates and they were the same.

In conclusion, if you did find a ticket for $900 from Lax to Shanghai I would hop on that, buy the additonal ticket for your Shanghai transfer (If your connecting flight is within 24hrs, they may allow 2 checked in luggage for free, even though you didnt book a international connection flight with such airlines) So your total comes out to about $1100 a person estimate. Good deal to me for one of the most expensive months to travel. Also if you choose to book a connecting flight on ctrip, I would book it 5-6 hours ahead from when your "supposed to land" in China.

  6. I will go back to US on April 10th ,I will look for a job ,I have been thinking to get a personal teaching Chinese job ,Anybody knows someone around wants to learn Chinese in Orlando? Or if someone's wife in US is doing that job ?? I dont know where to post an ad for that ,I remember I was in 001 before and I saw one post says theres a free web that I can post that kind of information, but I didnt save it ,now I cant find it any more ,so just wondering if anybody here know where to get the information and how to post an ad! Is it legal for me to post that in high school or college?

Your not going to have time to tutor anyone. You are going to be busy going to school full time 12+ credits AND working a part time job for about 20 hours a week. I think school enough alone is going to keep you busy since you will need to translate some of the words in the book. Lets not get ahead of ourselves here.

Oh not to mention, you already have a job, it is waiting for you for when you come back.

  7. Hey Mike!!!

If you haven't already, check kayak.com. They search all of the fares and allow you to use flexible dates. Wednesdays do seem to be the best.

I've heard a lot about Kayak, but I haven't tried it, and I was considering looking into the Cheapoair air, as well. How long in advance would you suggest booking with Kayak? And is there a certain time of the day on Wednesdays that's better than others? (It'd just be nice to save as much as possible on airfare, especially with fuel prices so high)

For cheapoair I have found booking > 3 weeks is best.

  8. You might want to try www.cheapoair.com bought wife's ticket from orlando to shanghai for $700 after taxes.

You could also try flying into shanghai and then looking for a flight on www.ctrip.com from shanghai to chongqing.

I did a quick search on ctrip for flights in june, and the early bird special price with taxes is 610 RMB which equates to about $92 USD. So your looking at about $400 for 2 people roundtrip from shanghai to chongqing. So if you manage to get a flight to shanghai for $1000 each ( I imagine it is possible) That would put your whole trip at about $2400 for two, sounds like a good price to me! Good Luck!
