  1. It's a matter of intent. If she comes to the US with the intent of circumventing the visa process, you marry and she stays here it's visa fraud. As Dan said it's risky. If she came here with the intent of visiting and you couldn't bear being apart, you marry and she stays it's perfectly legal... but there is significant risk. It all depends on whether or not the interviewing officer believes you or not. If she comes here, you marry and she returns to China to wait out the visa process that is perfectly legal without any significant risk.

  2. My ex wife is a flight attendant for Delta. She mainly flies to Japan and back once a week. The pay and benefits are decent and she seldom ever works over 80 hours a month. It takes a long time to get enough seniority to hold a good route but there are also interesting trips you can pick up when you're on reserve. I don't think she's ever worked 24 hours straight. The length of the flight is it for international flights. They also get sleep breaks. Constantly changing time zones can be hard on your sleep rhythms though. My advice is if you find it interesting go for it.

  3. I think we all could write a book about our experience. Maybe some day.....

I recently read about a woman sculptor who married a Chinese man. Her house was filled with her work but he did not find it very interesting at all. While he was driving home one day, he saw someone had thrown away a huge portrait print (not litho -- just plain printed like from a machine or laser printer) that was lying by the side of the road. He picked it up, got home, and moved all her work to another room, and nailed the print right to the front room wall. Ayup, that is art.

I would have just killed the man. But believe me my wife is not beyond doing something like that. She touches my guitars and she will be sleeping with her friends. My story and I am sticking to it.... :D

Bing doesn't touch my guitars. She doesn't mind them at all. I think she gains face from her friends and co-workers because they are in awe that I can build them.

  4. Having been married to a Japanese woman and currently married to a Chinese woman I can tell you there's a little bit of truth in all of those statements. There are a lot of differences but also some similarities. Like most Asians they are both concerned with not losing face. My wife is probably not typically Chinese. She's not greatly concerned with how much money I make. My ex was always after me to to figure out how to make more money. She would also nit pick over trivial shit and never forgot a past misdeed. Bing on the other hand doesn't pick at me and once a misdeed is made and resolved it's forgotten. My wife is definitely not #13. She would never cause me to lose face in public. She has no problem berating me in private though.

I will relate a story that points out some differences. When Bing and I first married my ex wanted to meet her so she invited us over for lunch. I wasn't crazy about the idea but Bing wanted to meet her so I grudgingly went along with it. Japanese people are polite to a fault. They could hate your guts and you would probably never notice it. Chinese people can be incredibly blunt. About half way into our visit, with Junko being the polite hostess and serving us with great care Bing came right out and point blank says "why divorce?" Junko was taken completely off guard and after some hemming and hawing stuttered something about people growing apart etc etc etc. Bing wasn't buying it. after we left she told me she then understood what I had previously told her.

  5. I think it's pretty obvious that China wants to usurp the US as the world's leading superpower. They want control of the entire South China sea and it's resources. One only need look at the 9 dash line to see how ludicrous that is. A line in the sand has to be drawn in order to maintain important shipping lanes. Only the US has the military might to do that. I wonder if they have the balls. Perhaps a massive armada taking a long slow cruise through the area might get the point across.

  6. Those studies were done at the height of the AIDS epidemic. Aids deaths have been cut by 2/3 since then. It also doesn't reflect couples in long term monogamous relationships. There is some evidence that gay men have a slightly higher risk of anal cancer and lesbian women have a slightly higher risk of breast cancer.

  7. Windows 10 took over my wife's computer the other day.She didn't ask for it it did it by itself. In the process she lost her Pinyin input. when I try to install it it says unavailable. I wanted to reinstall the Chinese simplified language pack and it says it's unavailable also. It screwed up her web cam too. Needless to say wifey aint happy.

All the people I know from the Nanning area don't care for Mexican food. I think it may be a regional taste.

Nanning food is basically Cantonese style. Chengdu/Sichuan style is the spict hot variety. I can't see in the near future dian píjiu going to cerveza por favor.

My wife who is from Nanning loves spicy foods but doesn't care for Mexican food.We had a conversation once about what if someone opened a Mexican restaurant in Nanning. She doesn't think it would do well there.
