My plane is booked in early July and is costing me about 1k. The funny thing is (or sad thing) my fiancee's ticket is costing the same for her 1-way ticket to the US. AVOID SUMMERSSSS!!!! but i have no choice....

Hey guys, update: we got our visa!! 2 days (NOT BAD) My fiancee will be going home, happy this time. I will be going back in August to pick her up. Have already bought tickets with Asiana. It's gonna be hot as h!

My fiancee asked for her visa to be mailed to my parents' place in Shenzhen, but I had no idea that the EMS package must be delivered and signed by her in person. Now she is stuck in Shenzhen until the visa arrives. Hopefully mailed visas don't take too much longer than pick-up visas.

Hi jp2008, Congratulations I have bought my tickets from flychina.com, but I think pommey is right. Get your tickets direct from "China Southern" they have a great deal going on ....also if you buy 2 months in advance its half price or more to LAX. We used China Southern coming home to the USA. Tom and Ling China Southern isn't gonna work for me. I'm over here in SFO, they only go to LAX. Thanks for the heads up though!

what do you mean by extended? The time it takes to get your visa (processing time). In the past you could get a visa next day right? damn, so after the interview, we have to wait 6 days? Dang! I knew I should have read what the topic was! No - this is for Meiguoren wanting to go to China. If you're in China now, you already have your visa, so no wait! Bur back to the topic, the wait has been anywhere from 2 to 12 days for the visa to show up at the post office (usually 2 days) oh ok, thanks for the scare . i got the one year multi-entry, i am getting 3 uses out of it... it's expiring on June 11, 09 . . . Yeah, mine expires in November and I've already used it twice. Hopefully China soothes down on their Swine flu scare by the time I go back in August.

For domestic flights, we used taobao.com (huge discounts). I think I will try flychina for my round-trip to China in August. It's around $680 right now I think.

Hey everybody, WE PASSED!!!! My fiancee dropped off her passport on Monday and Tuesday went back and got the PINK sheet. She will be going home since we are having the passport w/visa mailed to my parents in Shenzhen. Thanks again everyone for all your support. If I knew about CFL earlier maybe we wouldn't have gotten blue in the first place. THANKS AGAIN!! ps. You guys hear the news? China embassy update: new visa processing time has been extended to 6 days for all Chinese visas due to the current swine influenza issue. Hopefully, this won't affect my current 1-year multiple entry visa. I will be going back in early August to pick up my fiancee. Oh yeah, has anyone bought tickets from flychina.com?

Does anyone know how long it will take after "call-in" and we drop off our docs/passport (for a blue slip overcome) do they notify if we pass and if so when we can get the visa? I was planning on just having my fiancee stay over there if it won't take too long.

good luck!!! why second interview required? Don't know if it is actually a "second interview" (hope not). It's just that the Call-in-Letter that we got was kinda strange. Box checked was "please bring the following docs in M-W 2-3pm..." however none of the items were checked. We have prepared another set of police cert. and unmarried cert. just in case. Hopefully this is just a "hand-in" like others have suggested.

Hey everyone, My fiancee's "second interview" is coming up. Pray for us! Thanks for all your help! It's been a hectic month and 1/2. Please let this be the last time we have to deal with GUZ!!!

Ok, so my fiancee faxed me the call-in letter. The letter is slightly different then what I have seen in other posts here on CFL. For one: there is only 2 possiblities (2 boxes, my fiancee has #2 checked). 1£©Congratulations! Your visa has been approved.... 2) Your visa application will be approved once you submit the following documents: (this is followed by an indented list of items, each with a check box to the left, I will try to re-create this below) box _________________ need new medical examination box _________________ need new medical examination if you cannot enter the United States before ___/___/_____ box _________________ need new police report box _________________ need new police report if you cannot enter the United States before __/__/____ box _________________ need new unmarried certificate box _________________ need new unmarried certificate if you cannot enter the United States before __/__/____ box Please return to the Consulate before __/__/____ otherwise your background check will expire box _________________ need to return to the Consulate in person to be fingerprinted box _________________ must return to the Consulate in person for a second interview box Other There, that is the complete list. Again, none of them are checked for my fiancee, which is why I am completely confused, because why then did they not just "approve" us? Also, why is the second option checked if they require NONE of the documents listed? Anyway, we have decided to just go ahead and get a new police record and a new unmarried certificate, just in case. We will try to go by without another medical exam, because she could just do that over in GUZ if they really insist. I'm wondering if the rep that compiled our call-in letter just checked the wrong box...(wishful thinking)

Major Update: So my fiancee did not tell me some critical info: apparently the call-in letter only had 2 boxes: 1)"congrats your case has been approved..." 2)"please bring the items listed below and your case will be approved" Below this there is a list of items which I mentioned in my first post. HOWEVER, my fiancee just informed me that each item has a check box before it, and the strange thing is, none of the items are checked???!! So what I am wondering is, if they don't want any of the listed items, why didn't they just check the 1st box: "congrats your case has been approved, please bring your passport..."

So I guess this is some kind of "default" call-in letter as Illinoisdave has suggested. So my fiancee will just be bringing her passport and call-in letter with her to GUZ. Is there anything else she should bring? (just in case)

What about the Medical forms, which I assume is referring to another med exam. Those shouldn't be necessary either then right? It's only been like 2 months since her med exam. Thanks
