  1. Hello all, it has been awhile since we have reached out to all of you, but I think I screwed up. My Fiancee arrived in USA on June 10th, Here K1 visa expires Sept. 8th. We are getting married Sept.5th, mainly due to making sure she likes being here ( which she has adjusted very well) and getting all my family together.

I was under the impression, as long as we married within 90 day and then file the I-485 form after the fact. What I just read was that we had to marry and file prior to the 90 days.... oh boy. I suppose we can run out and get married prior to that day and just celebrate on Sept. 5th.

Do we have to wait till we have our marriage certificate from our government in hand prior to filing the I-485.

Any input on my stupidity will greatly be appreciated.

    Thanks as always,

    John and Siyi

  2. Hello Everybody

I arrived to beijing on saturday, before we got off the plane a few medical officials came on aboard to scan our forehead with a thermal gun and everybody pasted. I arrived to GUZ today, we will have medical tomorrow in the morning... it is very hot and humid here....

Wish you both luck and much happiness, these days are trying times but the end result is worth the effort.

  3. Sign my up

    WAY TO GO!!! PINK

Thanks to all of you here..

We had a 7:15 AM line up and waited till about 8:00 to get into building, there were about 150 people in line... at least Siyi went up to the fifth floor and I went to the rip off coffee shop, 55 RMB for a simple cup of coffee, but refills are only 10 RMB.

I swear the seconds turned into minutes and the minutes into hours.

Thank God, I was joined by 3 other Americans, one waiting for his wives approval and other two going to ACH, but I think they were there more to see how it all transpired.

First person I saw came down with Pink, then the person I was waiting with for his wife approval came down white, it was not a pretty site. By then my stomach turned to stone, the knots were gone.

By 11:30 My fiancee came down and she was smiling from ear to ear, what a great feeling.

Her # was 91 and it took forever, she said there were all American VO with two woman, She was hoping for man, since the men VO seem to only ask a few questions. Then the woman VO gave this woman a blue slip and then called her #, She was really worried.

The V0 asked the following questions:

    Do you speak English

How did you meet your fiance

How many times did he come here to visit you

    Do you have any children

Asked if I had been married before

How many children does he have

    Do you have a Job

    Do you have any pictures

Then VO said you have learned English very good and you have proved your relationship... you are approved

I will note that I had several concerns which here on CFL have been stated as red flags.

    1) I have been Married 3 times- provided a letter with history of marriages, VO never wanted it

    2) self employed but provided 4 years taxes with transcripts

    3) When we both decided back in June 2008 to proceed with a visa, She quit her job and went to a language college full time for 8 months, I supported her and paid for school, we both thought it was important for a strong relationship.- Vo knew that we did this and stated that she has done a remarkable job in learning English so quickly

I will say that my fiance did an impeccable job with her paperwork, picture books, documentation and asked the VO several times if she wanted to see any of this... VO only looked at my Evolution letter of our relationship, which I hand wrote and did not have notarized.

VO looked at many pictures of us together and made comments about us going to Sanya and how beautiful it was there.

Siyi, was very happy and felt the interview went very smoothly, but I do believe paperwork and how it is presented makes a major impression.

Thanks again to all of you

  4. After getting in line at 6:45 am and waiting in the coffee shop till 11:30, we got pink.... I still and in a daze but it is real. Later I will fill in more about her questions and people I sat with at the coffee shop. We sleep very little last night and now will take a great Chinese nap...lol

Thank you everyone for being here for us this past year.

    John and Siyi.

  5. what does the hotel cost?

    Good luck with the interview!

    give us ALL the details!!

I choose to stay at the Jianguo Hotel, which is 4 buildings away from interview. I believe I paid 136.00/night plus tax. It is a 5 star hotel, but I think the five star part is over rated. Don't get me wrong it is very nice and very clean, beds are hard as rocks but you can't sleep waiting for this day anyways.

We are just about ready to walk over and line up with the rest of the poor souls waiting for this day. It has been a long weekend, many thoughts and you really don't know if you should be excited or how to feel. In a few hours we should know our fate.

I have lived many years and seen many things but this is a trying time, for sure.

I will post what happens in a few hours, thanks for everyones thoughts and support.

  6. I flew into Hong Kong on the night of the 29th and the swine flu precautions there were no big deal - we just filled out a questionaire on the plane and then turned it in upon arrival. They never took our temperature or anything - easy immigration/customs procedure.

I took the train from HK into GUZ yesterday and the swine flu precautions upon arrival at the train station in GUZ were much more strigent. They took my temperature while on the train and then again upon arrival in GUZ. I also got questioned by medical staff in GUZ for about 15 or 20 minutes before they ket me through immigration - they wanted to know exactly were I had been for the past 7 days and how long in each place. Then I got picked for additional immigration screening and had to send my bags through 3 different xray machines.

My fiancee had her medical exam today and it was a fairly pain free affair - we were probably there no more than 3 hours total and we were able to receive the results before we left. Tonight we are going to sort our paperwork into a system in which my fiancee will be comfortable with and one in which she can easily access everything and then tomorrow I will attend both ACS and ACH. Tuesday is the big day for us.

I wish you good luck, ours is in the morning and the stress and thought of it all is not so easy to deal with. It is sad that one single person determines your future.

Tonight will be a long night.... I will post as soon as we find out, I know for me everyones feed back on the process sure can help.

I hope it showers pink for us all.

    John and Siyi

  7. so what is a normal temperature? from their standards?

Siyi, says it is like 24 - 28 c, it is cloudy here today, We had to go to the other side of the city and I can see now the taxi drivers are like the ones in our big cities. The one who took us charged us 16 rmb, took much longer and the way back only 10 rmb from other driver...go figure, they must think stupid American...lol

We are staying at the Jianguo Hotel, it is a 5 star hotel, but I thought the pricing was very good. We are suppose to be right next to Embasyy, we will be ing walking there very shorthly to check it out. I found it on Agoda.com. after our walk I will let you know how close.

It is a big city for sure, I usually go to Guilin and I enjoy the smaller city.

    Thanks,

    John and siyi

  8. I arrived in Guz last night, I will tell anyone coming here the Swine Flu is a major issue over here. I landed in Japan as a layover, we had to stay on the plane till medical people walked through the plane looking for sick people. Whne I got to Guz, the samething I saw 6 people out of about 80, were quarantined. If you are quarantined it is for 10 days.

They take each passengers temp and you just pray you don't have one. I was told if you are from america and fly into HongKong you will be quarantined for 24 hrs.

So be prepared for the delays, more paper work and more stress.

I will right about our interview which id two days apart.

Thanks everyone for all the help and understanding

    John and Siyi

  9. Hi guys,

Jeffrey went in for his interview today at 7:15am. I'm not sure when he got his fingerprints done, but he thought he was going to get a monster VO because of his experience with a young, male fingerprinter. He got a golden haired woman and he said she was really nice from the start. She kept him at the window 5-6 minutes. He said it was a long time. She asked him:

How did you meet? I met her investigating a case at the Uni

Why do you love her? She is kind, beautiful...yadayada

Where did you meet? At the Uni that we both worked at

Why do you want to go to the US? (he didn't tell me)

When will you go? (he didn't tell me)

Can you speak English? A little

Can your wife speak Chinese? Yes

Then she took her time with the photos, and switched to English to speak with him. Some questions she asked he didn't understand so he asked her to repeat it in Chinese. We weren't sure we were going to get pink since he has been part of the CCP for a year and did not withdraw from it. We had our letters ready and everything. I don't have the specific details yet on the whole interview cause I just got the good news. If there is anything else to tell, I'll let you guys know.

Thank you all for your help and support. We would not have been able to do this without CFL.

    Congrats...Wish you both much happiness

  10. well,I am off to the land of Guz,I leave May 27th......our turn up at bat june 4th.wish us luck.....some prayers.the wife is very very upbeat and confident.all those with interview before us good luck, keep the pink coming, and we will try to do the same. It's all in Gods hands now.

    Have a safe trip

  11. Just wanted to wish all of us with the upcoming June interviews. I will be leaving in two days to finally arrive at the judgement day. It has been a long and trying year and I am sure everyone understand just that.

I hope we all bring home our better halfs and can enjoy a great and full life. I just wanted to take the time to Thank everyone here for your support and simply being here when ever a there was any issues.

I can say for me without this site and wonderful people here, I truly don't think I could have made it.

Thank you all, the best of luck to everyone and may God bless us all

    John and Siyi

  12. PINK!

She was asked 2 questions how did you meet and do you have any photos. He never even looked at the photos LOL

He was in his mid 20's with long wavy hair and glasses.

Great Job.... It must feel like a major load is off both your shoulders :)

    Enjoy seeing the family

    John and Siyi

  13. Since our interview is on Monday, I will not be able to get to Guz to meet Siyi till Friday night. Do I have to have evolution letter notarized or for that fact any other paperwork?

Since I am self employed I have four years of tax returns along with the tax transcripts for the IRS. Bank Statements and mortgage papers for my house.

Any thoughts will always be appreciated. I really wanted to go sooner but, if we get pink we have to travel around to visit her family prior to leaving china, which by the time we get down will be two weeks.

    Thanks as always,

John and Siyi..... I wish us all to be bright pink, well at least for our one day

  14. Once again, I am asking the wise people here for some thoughts and guidance. What is the best way to set up buying my ticket for the interview date and getting hers if we are approved.

I want to fly back together, so what is anyones thoughts on this.

    Thanks

    John and Siyi

I booked a round trip on CZ from LAX to CAN and return, with a return date of a few days after the interview date.

Once, we had the visas IN HAND, my wife, who has lived in GZ and worked for a large insurance company in downtown for many years, went to a [source] she had at the Baiyun Airport Authority, and obtained two more tickets on the same CZ flight I had prviously booked for myself, back to LAX.

We got one of the three seat rows, near the back of the plane, and it worked out so well for the three of us !!

There is some risk in this type of endeavor, but I had thought about it for a long time, and made the decision to go with it. Everything worked out with precision, and with interview on June 2nd, visas in hand on June 4th, we exited GZ on June 6th.

I figured that the worst case scenario, if we could not find seats available on the same flight on the 6th, was that I would have to pay the $125 rebooking service fee to change my return flight to LAX to a later date.

    This was my direct experience.

Thanks to all of you, I know I could never have gone through all of this without this site. I truly believe I have aged 10 years :) I think at this point I will do the one way ticket, since we have to travel to three cities in China before coming back. Way to many if's at this point. I guess you could say it has been a year of If's.

I wish everyone all the luck in the world no matter waht stage you are in with the Guz nightmare.

    John and siyi

  15. do you guys think 1 week and a half staying in China is enough?

I wonder the same thing, I have seen posted that it takes about two days to get the visa, if approved. We want to go see her parents before she comes here.

You asked about one way ticket, I too thought of that, i want to make sure we come home together, if all goes well. I have debated just buying her a ticket and taking the chance. I figured if we were denied, I could cancel the ticket and use the credit to go back.

This whole process has kept us on edge but now it is like.... Wow, my mind is in overload.

  16. i called DOS just now and found out the interview date

    June 11, 2009 at 7:15am

    YES!!!

    wish us luck!!

That is great news, I just called DOS and our is scheduled June 1st, I can't believe it myself. I thought you guys would beat us on getting there. I wish you both good luck and hope we all come home with pink. It has been a year of hell waiting and not knowing.

    John and Siyi

  17. I am going to bring three years of tax returns, I am self employed. Is it ok just to submit my copies of the last three years or would transcripts from the IRS be better.

If anyone has any other idea's to insure, my income does'nt come into play it would be greatly appreciated. I am a bit concerned on my income, I have always done great with my business but my bottom line is always well adjusted because of the business deductions.

Any help again would be welcomed.

    Thanks,

    John and Siyi

  18. every form you get, just follow the instructions exactly, give them what they want and nothing more....

Thanks, my lawyer is an idiot... Looks like you guys are moving forward. Our paper work left Jan. 22 not long after yours and we have heard nothing...the waiting is very difficult, for sure.

    Thanks

    John and Siyi
