  1. How nice to have a life time partner with such an open mind. Congratulations Jim!

My wife is not a fan of American food due to the fatness issue. She cannot believe her eyes, when she sees how large many Americans are. We stick mostly to Chinese foods. I have eaten more green vegetables and fruit in the last two months, than in the last year on my own.

But, ya know ¨C every once and awhile I have an outrageous protein crave!!!!

  2. Anyway what I would like to know is what exactly do I need for paperwork to get married in China. I have a certified single Certificate and divorce paper.

Do I only need my most recent divorce paper?

My Single Cert was done in Sept of 2005. Is that expired?

    May I suggest?

Have any legal documents (divorce papers) notarized by your County Clerk. Have your Secretary of State apply an “Apostille” certificate to same documents. Send those documents to the Chinese Embassy or one of their Consulates – have them apply an “Authentication” seal to your documents (China is not a signatory country for “Apostilles.” However, Hong Kong is signatory, accepting “Apostille” documents.)

You may wish to have at least three (3) originals of any legal documents. You may need them for any new applications you summit.

“The applicant shall apply for the authentication from the Chinese Embassy or Consulate-Generals within 3 months after the Affidavit of Single Status being notarized by the notary public. The Affidavit of Single Status is valid for 6 months after being authenticated by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate-Generals.”

  3. Hello ALL,

I wish everyone a nice Sunday and coming week.

    (08-20) 04:00 PDT Shanghai -- "Male, 26, 1980, Associate's Degree, 1.7 meters, realtor-manager, 2 homes (3-bedroom and 2-bedroom), 5,500 RMB.

"Wanted: Female, 1.6-meters, Associate's Degree, steady workplace in Pudong, kind-hearted, diligent at livelihood, 3,000 RMB."

The above is not an item in the personals classifieds, an online service, or some dating bulletin board. Instead, the message is handwritten in a faded felt-tip pen on a 9-by-11 white sheet of paper, protected by clear plastic and cradled in the lap of a middle-aged man.

  4. It seems that I may need to spend some extended time In China, with my wife.  Do I just renew the 30 day visa when I am there?  Also , maybe this should go in a different thread, but I have a step daughter now.  My company will allow me 12 weeks off without pay.  To take care of an adopted child.  She is my step daughter, can I adopt her?  If so what kind of paperwork is involved?

Thanks for your suggestions and assistance

If you have not applied for a new China visa as yet – apply for a double-entry visa. That will be good for two 30 day visits. However, you must exit China to have your visa re-stamped to start the second 30 day visa/visit. You can exit to Hong Kong or Vietnam depending on which country you are close to.

You can have your SO visit her local Police Department and ask if they will “extend” your single 30 day visa. Sometimes they will – of course for a fee.

If you have visited China twice before you can apply for a one (1) year multi entry visit visa that is good for a 30 day stay each exit (crossing a border) and re-entry.

After you have three (3) or more expired China visas in your USA Passport, you can apply for a one (1) year multi entry visa that is good for a 90 day stay each exit and re-entry.

  5. I got what appears to be a duplciate RFE for the IMBRA today in the mail.  I previously received one on 7/3/2006 and returned it via priority mail with proof of delivery on 7/5/2006.  Proof of delivery shows 7/10/2006.

The first RFE was dated 6/28/2006 and the second one is dated 7/10/2006.  The file number and A# are the same and the RFE is the standard IMBRA questionaire that was previously completed, signed and returned?  I did not receive another email regarding this mailing and there hasn't been any change in my status which shows a RFE on 7/3/2006.

Anybody have this happen to them?  Any guesses why?

I to have a seeming duplicate RFE ¨C received 13 July, dated 10 July.

I returned first RFE on 5 July. Received email 7 July acknowledgement.

I am returning a cover letter with copy of first RFE, copy of their first RFE letter, copy of email from them, second RFE with new date and copy of the second RFE letter.

1 Bob - selfless attributes (?). He may have perceived qualities in Mary that need polishing. They would both benefit.

2 Mary – moment(s) of weakness are learning curves - not total personality or moral makeup. She should have waited to be rescued by John – it was his responsibility not Mary’s. Does not seem Mary had “track record” of faulty character.

3 Old man – selfish excuses; maybe he could not make the trip himself. He could have offered with others to help Mary

4 Businessman - has a materialistic view of life. “Things” are more important than feelings of those in dire need(s). He had the means to assist.

5 John - lacked empathy, understanding, reasonableness, compassion. Having become engaged to Mary, he should known what her values were already. True, trust was violated, but were Mary other qualities not redeeming enough? [He may have been “setting” her up for a fall anyway by bringing his best friend along – three is an odd number].

6 Sailor – a predator; he took advantage of the weak and wounded

    ......etc :)

    Cheers,
