Good evening, everyone
Is anyone know that the k1 visa holders are not allowed to work in the USA before they get work permission? Is it illegal if they go to work?
Thanks

The short answer is no: http://uscis.gov/graphics/i-693faq.htm
"...Ks: If you were admitted to the United States as a fiance(e) (K-1), child of a fiance(e) (K-2), Spouse of a U.S. citizen (K-3), or child of K-3 (K-4), and received a medical examination prior to admission, then you do not require another medical examination as long as your application for adjustment of status (Form I-485) is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. You will, however, be required to submit a vaccination supplement with our adjustment of status application. The vaccination supplement must be completed by a designated civil surgeon."
Many civil surgeons either don't know this or try to get you to have another exam for the money. You may need to shop around for a civil surgeon who will not want to give another exam.
Thank you! Your imformation really helps.

I applied for fiance visa and arrived in USA in Jan. Before I came here, I had my medical exam that required by US consulate for visa interview. Now I am applying for the adjustment of status and Form I-693 needed to be filled by doctor. Does anyone here know whether I need another medical exam for adjustment?
Thank a lot for kind help. -
I started to prepare the documents for my financee visa in May and submitted in those documents at the begining of July. USCIS received my application on Aug. 31 and approved it on Sept. 26. I backed France at the end of Oct. and wish to receive my package 3, unfortunately I received it 3 weeks late than I thought because I changed my mail address. I sent back P3 at the mid of Nov. and then received my package 4 on Nov.24 that showed my interview would be on 13pm sharp of January 5. And Within a month, I should get vaccination test and get shots if needed.
I arrived in Paris on 4th for my physical examination which costs 150euro , around 1500 RMB. My insurrance covers any other medical expense except for this one. The next day, I got to US embassy located very close to Place De La Concorde at 11:30am. Because it was still early, I visited Madeleine church. I regathered my interview documents and prayed there hoping to get my visa today, then it was time for going to the embassy. I did not take the long line outside and went into directly, but I met the security problem. They did not allow me to bring my laptop in and refused to take care of it. Fortunately, I found the place to store my laptop and other stuff. I was worried that I was going to be late, but the fact is that time is not so important. There were so many people in the hall including write french people, black and asian. One hour later, I was called. It seems she is familiar with me , which might because she seldom meet my case. She is serious, but friendly. She asked for all my documents, then told me to wait . Twenty minutes later, I was called again, but by a black american woman in the window 8. She only asked two simple questions: where did we meet and when did we get engaged. When she became slient, I asked her whether she wanted to see some pics and mails. She did, and then told me with nice smile that she would issue my visa. I could't help to laugh and said to her: " thank for you very much". Till now, my visa process almost ended, and the last thing is to buy an envelop which can contain 2kg stuff. I was so excited and ignored how much the envelop costs- 27 euro, around 270RMB-hehe...
My flight to NY is on January 15 and I am preparing for leaving.
Good luck to everyone! Bonne chance!

I thought I wold let everyone know that my wife passed her interview today. She was unable to give many details other than they asked her the follwing:
1. Where does your husband work?
2. Names of my family members.
3. If she spoke English. She said she did but not very well but the interviewer said she did fine.
She said from start to finish it only took her an 1.5 hours.
For those wondering from earlier posts If you paid the 380 dollars for the CR-1 to NVC you do not have to repay. We did not even show a reciept.
This is the happiest day of my life. She will be arriving in Chicago on the 21st of Dec. Marry Christmas to me and to all of you I hope things work out. Keep the faith. It may be long process but it can have a very happy ending. From start to finsih our process took almost an entire 14 months.
CONGRADULATION!!!
I so admire you two. I had thought to pass Christmas Day in NYwith my love, but now I have to wait till Jan.

I mailed to US embassy in GZ several month ago, and the answer is I can be interviewed in Paris.
I am in China now to complete all the documents. My fiance recieved note that my application will be sent to Paris soon, but the attorney said consulate of US in France might return my application to NVC, then resend it to GZ. I already bought my ticket to return France, that is the problem!

Hello
Your visa process is so fast! Congradulations!!
I sumbited I-129 on 1st July, and I recevied NOA1 on 31th Aug, why did it take so long? I checked the USCIS website with my receipt number, it shows they are processing the files received on 13th Aug. I am so anxious to know when my files will be approved.
Any advices? Thanks.
