  1. Chinese media say witnesses have reported the man intended to be hurl the explosive into the embassy but it exploded before he could get it over the fence, injuring people and a police car in its path.

However, reports are conflicting with other media outlets claiming police had to stop a woman pouring petrol on herself.

The Global Times reported: “Witness says police took away a woman spraying gasoline on herself in suspected attempt at self-immolation”.

  2. I just received an e-mail from the State Department concerning China.

China, Level 2: Exercise increased caution

Exercise increased caution in China due to the arbitrary enforcement of local laws and special restrictions on dual U.S.-Chinese nationals.

Chinese authorities have the broad ability to prohibit travelers from leaving China (also known as `exit bans'); exit bans have been imposed to compel U.S. citizens to resolve business disputes, force settlement of court orders, or facilitate government investigations. Individuals not involved in legal proceedings or suspected of wrongdoing have also be subjected to lengthy exit bans in order to compel their family members or colleagues to cooperate with Chinese courts or investigators.

U.S. citizens visiting or residing in China have been arbitrarily interrogated or detained for reasons related to "state security." Security personnel have detained and/or deported U.S. citizens for sending private electronic messages critical of the Chinese government.

China may refuse to acknowledge dual U.S.-Chinese nationals' U.S. citizenship, including denying U.S. assistance to detained dual nationals, and preventing their departure from China. If a dual U.S.-Chinese national enters China on a Chinese government travel document, such as, but not limited to, a Chinese passport or a national ID card, U.S. consular officers will not be allowed to visit the individual or assist in interactions with the Chinese government should the individual be arrested, detained, or involved in criminal or civil investigation.

If you plan to enter North Korea from China, read the North Korea Travel Advisory.

Read the Safety and Security section on the country information page.

If you decide to travel to China:

Enter China on your U.S. passport with a valid Chinese visa.
If you are arrested or detained, ask police or prison officials to notify the U.S. Embassy or the nearest consulate immediately.
Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive Alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency.
Follow the Department of State on Facebook and Twitter. Follow the U.S. Embassy on Twitter, WeChat, and Weibo.
Review the Crime and Safety Reports for China.
U.S. citizens who travel abroad should always have a contingency plan for emergency situations. Review the Traveler's Checklist.

  3. Maybe China's FDR soon. China's ruling Communist Party has proposed removing a limit of two consecutive terms for the country's president, the official news agency said Sunday, appearing to lay the groundwork for party leader Xi Jinping to rule as president beyond 2023.

  4. Yep, I remember his sermons on TV many times. I never was much on TV evangelist like him, Oral Roberts, Baker, and Schuller. I may be WAY off here and I am not questioning his faith what so ever but I always thought that there was a great emphasis on money. An ole guy that owned a mom and pop country store down the street about 200 yards from where I was born went and had Oral Roberts pray for God to relieve him of his Polio. I honestly do not remember how much he paid but it was a GREAT amount and it did nothing for him what so ever. I think that everyone knows what the Bible says about rich people and wealth.

Here is the link. Far too many for me to post here. If you are interested take a look they speak for themselves.

For me and me alone I had rather go to a good old fashioned tent revival with one of those fire and brimstone pasters. Of course they want money too but very few are rich if any.

God doesn't sell miracles but takes payment in faith.

  5. Country Music Legend Passes. Mel Tillis at 85. The singer, songwriter, comedian and businessman, whose genuine warmth and down-home humor drew countless fans, was 85. In his six-decade career, he recorded more than 60 albums, notched three dozen top 10 singles and wrote several hit songs that are now regarded as classics.
