Ox-tails is my favorite dish in the world... I never had it with cabbage.. but with a brown gravy and rice, there is nothing better if done right. too me 10 years to perfect my recipe... I only know 2 resturants in Atlanta that make it as good as me.
Nygatl15, my wife and I went shopping today at a Chinese market called Vinh Phats today and bougth some fresh ox tail for soup. My wife cooked the soup on low heat for around two hours which she mentioned is so important, the ingrediants were ox tails cut about 1" - 11/2", carrots, potato's and cabbage, the ox tails were very tender, and the soup is delicious. I hope you try it sometime and enjoy it as much as I do.

Lots to see in Beijing, Great Wall, Tinamin Square, Forbidden City and much more. Shanghai, I didn't see much, it looked like a New York in a lot of ways. But it was still nice.

Are there any copies of these forms any where or will you just have to wait until you get them from Guz? (I talking about the OF variety) I was hoping to have them pre filled and sent off when they came as along as they are the same.

I am new to this group. I hope someone here has some information and
can help direct me a little.
I have a girlfriend in China, who I am considering marrying in China
within the next two months. I would like to know how long it would take
to get her here legally. She does not have a visa. She told me it would
take from 8 to 10 months for her to get the visa after we would be
married. Now, I hear, it could actually take up to 2 years.
I believe we would submit the K3 visa application, and we
would have to go to the US embassy in China and apply.
I hope there is a way I can get her here sooner than that.
If someone is familiar with the procedure, and mostly how to possibly
get her here sooner, that would be very nice.
Would it possibly be better if we were to get married in the US?

Welcome to CFL. You've come to the right place. Your SO is correct when she estimates 8 to 10 months. That is the normal time frame for a K3 visa, as long as there are no hitches or only minor ones. It is also true that it could take two years.
Conventional wisdom says that the K1 visa for a fiance can get her here 1 or 2 months quicker but there is no guarantee. I advise you to give serious consideration to personal and family issues as well as the time factor.
You've got lots of research to do, priorities to set and preparation to make, so it's good you've come here BEFORE going to China. I'd start by reading the FAQ and everything else you see as interesting and then com back with specific questions.
If you haven't already done so, start getting your own paperwork in order. You'll need certified copies of divorce decree(s) if applicable, certified copies of your birth certificate and, of course, a passport and a visa to enter China.
Unless you are planning to stay in China for the duration of the visa process, you will actually be filing your petitions with a US service center of USCIS. Later the National Visa Center will forward your petition to Guangzhou to complete the final steps of the process.

I agree the K3 seems to be the fastest way to go, but it is also a little more costlier, which you will find out in your research. More costly because, you will have to file the I-130, before you can file for the K3. You can file the I-130 without the K3, but I beleive it takes more time... maybe 4 or 5 months extra or more, it is less costly just the same. I think this is the way I will go in a few months when I plan to marry in June, the I-130 that is....

OUCH 56 days and waiting for interview schedule. I know it can be any time now. or another month. This is becomming as much fun as that last 8 hour root canal I once sat through. Of course, thanks to God and good genetics, the dentist said I had the deepest roots she had ever seen. hehe.
Hunter, I don't understand your timeline. It confuses me a little. I understand that you filed the I-130 and the filed a I129f(k3)...but you said your CR-1 was approved 2-27-06. what does that mean. The interview you are waiting for is for the K3 interview I'm assuming. This seems to be going along quickly for you. Good Luck!!

Boiled a pork shoulder in pineapple juice and cloves, blackeye peas, baked apples and turnip greens. Pretty simple. I wonder what most of the meals will be like when I get married again and my wife and son will be here
... I know she doesn't eat much meat... I eat a lot of chicken and fish sometimes... not too much meat. She like to eat seafood and veggies.... lots of seafood in beihai, I assume, on the coast. -
On that not of how the USG allocates thier resources, help me with this one.
Since I live in Georgia, I'm supposed to send my I-130 to the Texas office and it will then be transferred to the California Service Center. That just seems like a total waste of time and resources also.

So, in answer to your question, you would check "Child".

At the bottom of the G-325 form, there is a bold box that says to put your name and Alien Registration number in the box.
1. who is the applicant?
2. how do they have a Alien registration number?

I had my certificate to marry in 10 min, it cotst me 30.00$ Just took my certified divorce decree into the US Embassy in Chengdu and they gave me the cirtificate. They do test you though, They take your documents then they ask you for your your SO birthdate and name. I answered it correctly ofcource but the guy that was before me couldn't remember his wifes information and he was turned away with no certificate?
While you may well have spent 10 minutes at the consulate, unless you plan to be in GUZ for at least half a day, you aren't going to accomplish this at all. Further, in order to have been asked about your SO's personal information you would have had to take her ID in too. They do require that.
You'll need 30 bucks, your divorce decree(s) if applicable and at least a copy of your SO's Chinese ID card, not just your divorce decree.
If I sound a little crabby today, its because, 1. I'm leaving Nanning for the USA today and 2. Well meaning but incomplete details like you posted nearly ruined my wedding plans last December.
Scary, I was just beginning to read those details. what should I be looking for.?

Well thought all was going well until today. Guz called us here in Nanning and canceled the interview!!! Someone somewher has put our daughters birthdate worng on the papers. All mine have the correct date and Yanlans too. But Guz says ilt needs to redo the name investigation again, This will take up to several months the lady said. All of Yanlans information adn dates are correct but the Daughtsrs birthdate was printed wrong somewhere. Bothe the medicals have been done already, now I think they will be neede to be redone again. I must leave on the 27th to go home and now I will loose the money for the 2 tickets for Yanlan and Lulu. The money for the medical is wasted too. All this time is wasted except I got to see my family. I go home empty handed and go through another waiting game because of someone that is stupid!
Well that is my update and sorry for vent to all of you but I feel really sick now, I do not know what to do besides sit and watch my fiancee cry.

I just blew away three posts that contained very bad information.
K-1/K-2 is a single entry visa valid for 90 days.
K-3/K-4 is a multiple entry visa valid for two years. During that two year period, the holder can come and go as they please.
A CR-1 gets a 2 year green card on entry to the US.
An I-130 MUST be filed for a CR-1. And another for a CR-2 (child).
You MUST have the NOA1 from the I-130 BEFORE you can file an I-129F for a K-3/K-4.
Don, My question would be, can you file for a I-130 without filing for the CR1 in order to file the K3/K4? My thought is that the expense of filing for the K3/K4 in addition to the CR1 might be too much for me to afford. Which can I avoid if at all possible? My thought is that filing CR1/K3/K4 would end up costing me about $4000 and I haven't even bought them airline tickets yet.
Also , does anything change in my responsibility if some was not to work out between us as opposed to the K1 marriage?
The short answer is yes. You can file the I-130 and pay the $190 filing fee and not pursue the CR/IR-1 immigrant visa. Once the NOA1 is received on the I-130, then you can but don't have to file for the K-3. That's another $170 filing fee. You will be able to control the flow on the I-130 and may choose to let it languish if you want to go with just the K-3, but remember this. While you will be paying more up front if you pursue the I-130-->CR/IR-1, you won't have to pay the current $325 to adjust her status after her arrival in the US which is something you'll have to do if she comes on a K-3.
Ok, then from the figures David posted earlier, It would cost aprox. $2000 to go the I-130 CR1/IR route and would cost aprox $2000 for my future wife and her son.
If I decided I wanted to file the K3/K4, it might speed the process up, at a cost of an additional $2000, correct?
I appreciate the input, I have time to decide, but I want to consider all of the pros and cons and have ample time to think it over and plan.
There is still the much needed meeting between us, which is quite a ways off and a divorce to happen before that meeting to take place, which I'm sure everyone is aware of.
