  1. well everyone,

He GOT a phone call (finally) yesterday after 3 faxes and 3 e-mails...the person said: "You just have to wait" and "it's natural to wait".

when my husband asked "how long" will I have to wait? she said: "I can't tell you that".

When he asked "is there some problem"? she said, "i can't tell you that"

When he asked "am I getting a visa or not"? She said, you might get a visa -- or -- you might NOT get a visa". ????????

WHATS THE POINT OF THAT PHONE CALL IF THEY DON'T ANSWER ANY QUESTION? what's the point? iS there some legitimate reason that they can't give any basic specifics over the phone?

THE ONLY THING SHE SAID IS THAT "waiting like this is normal" and "your (passport) is not lost".

    ????????

The phone call wasn't very helpful to say the least.

My husband gave me the person's cell phone number that came up on his phone. I would like to call that person and ask those questions myself... but would it cause problems? Would I be told simply that "we cannot verify who you are"? etc.?

I wonder should I go ahead with the congressman's effort to get information?

Why did they call from a phone number that shows up on someone's caller ID?

Is that how others have received phone calls from them? Did they give you no info (phone call was useless)?

Did you see a number show up on your phone too?

    Strange!!

    Thanks,

    :draw:

:D outrageous, Guz sends a "call back" makes him sit for 2 weeks and they wont communicate :D

I would say "unbelievable" they would treat people like this, but unfortunately it ain't the first time.

Again very sorry, hang in there

That's strange they won't give you a specific answer. They have always given me a specific answer when I asked.

"No, we haven't received your mail" - this went on for a month

"Your case is still processing. Check with us at a later date" - this went on for another 3 months.

    "Yes, your visa is approved."

  2. DOS is messed up. I called them about 4 weeks ago because I received a reply back from GUZ stating that a Call-in Letter was sent out to my wife.

I called DOS to see if they knew what this "Call-in Letter" was about and DOS said, "Your case is still under Administrative Processing."

I emailed GUZ again when they were open and GUZ said, "Visa was approved."

DOS seems to give you a different answer, depending on who picks up your call.

 Yea, I heard some friends here have the samiliar issues with DOS too, crazy... I am wondering how could they give out different information since they all work in DOS and share the same data...

Someone mentioned some employee have different level of access to information...not sure if that's true or not.

  4. thanks Rob and Jin,

    Your information is helpful.

Unfortunately, my husband is a VERY stubborn man and also careful not to lose his job at this point -- can't risk losing it until he has a visa in-hand.

I know you're right about the Yangs -- he should have done that. but my husband said he doesn't want to "waste any more money or time". He described it as a lengthy and difficult process in itself to have them be able to mail it to him. ?

I hope he's just angry and reactionary right now but will think...

He's so disgusted right now that he didn't call me all day or night and even closed his phone on ME when I called him and doesn't even want to talk to ME. He's very grumpy right now.

    Oh well....

I'm helpless here in CA for the moment.

I'll prepare a fax to GUZ for their morning (or will fax it soon) in hopes that it will help get us some answer before my husband LEAVES on the train.

That's all I can do. I can't even reach my husband to try to talk him out of this.

These situations can really put a strain on a relationship-- not easy...

Strange that DOS dont have it at least "approved- not issued" yet, but I remember ours hung at "processing " a few days too.

If your husband can at least wait until tomorrow evening, as if visa approved ,printed and mailed friday he could pick it up this weekend.

Guz doesn't post to the PO until around 9pm (they do not post out at weekends).

If its not issued yet EMS wont have anything to track yet, that can only work once visa is leaving GUZ.

If its not issued tomorrow then it may be monday with a tuesday pick up.If he cant wait then get the Yangs to collect and post. Would hate to see him leave tomorrow just to have to return next week.

I know your frustration well, its horrible to be in this limbo. If you talk to the Yangs they will tell you this is pretty common, but why no-one knows.

    good luck, best wishes

When we received the blue slip, GUZ asked for a "Evolution of Relationship" letter. I went on a 14 pages rant about their screwed up process and the emotional strain they put on people because their process is screwed up. I wrote an evolution of relationship letter and gave it to my wife to bring along for the interview. And guess what? They never asked to see it!!! And when we received our blue slip on visa pickup, that was the damn letter they requested us to provide.

They had opportunity to ask for these documents during the interview, but never once asked my wife for it.

Then they take another 4 months to read my letter? It's unbelieveable the crap they can put people through and not have any consequences.

The entire process is crap. They treat us as if we're all criminals.

  5. Yea, you're being feed bull crap by China Postal and by GUZ.

1.) My wife went to pick up her Visa on Saturday both time.

2.) Why do they need to verified your email to response to you?

I email GUZ all the time and I have used 4 different email address and they never once told me they won't response because they can't verify.

Try DOS to see if they have anything on their computer? I would keep emailing them everyday. That's silly that they wouldn't even give a status.

  6. I don't think they that cruel! It's possible they might have misplaced the mail.

If they were to give you another blue or worse, I think you have it another already by now. Our pink turned into a blue within 2 days in June!

GUZ will usually response within 1 or 2 days of email. Have you try calling DOS? I never had good experience with DOS since their information lags.

  7. Yes, you can pick up on Saturday. We went to pick up in June and ended up with a blue.

My wife just went 2 Saturday ago and picked up her visa. She turned the call in letter in on Wednesday and was able to pick up on Saturday.

Something is wrong if nothing is happening for 10 days. There has been time when the machine broke down and it has taken over 2 weeks, but I haven't heard of that problem recently and your husband and my wife went to turn in the call-in letter at the same time.

Can't he or you call or email GUZ to see what the hold up is? 10 days is too long

  8. HEY HOMERSIMPSONS CONGRATS!!!!! SO YOU GOT THE VISA????

    AWESOME!!

HOw long did it take when you came back to get it?

    They can't be that cruel!

We jut got our Visa last week(after getting a pink at interview and then a blue at pickup)

My wife went to turn in the Call-In Letter on Wednesday. She stayed there in GUZ and picked up at China Postal on Saturday.

  9. Finally the wait is over. I watched the debate and went to sleep about 11pm.. I was always thinking what she was doing.

I just got the call at 11:55 pm. after over 2 years of waiting... just 3 questions and the interview was over.

the 3 questions? The V.O. was a lady, asked the questions in english without asking if she wanted to have the questions in chinese.

    1. when did you meet your husband.

    2. What does she do in Beihai... Lao po didn't know how answer in english, so she answered in Chinese, she is unemployed. The V.O. didn't appear to even listen.

    3. Most strange question,,,, Can't think of why this question was asked..... but they asked what was my surgery? .....I had a procedure done last December.... how could they know this?

Anyway, the wait is over, Thanks for the support and encouragement for me though a very long and sometimes very frustrating time.

I also wish the best for my good friend Charles who is to follow soon. And Tsap Suei who has been very supportive in spite of difficult times of his own, much class. I also wish much luck to those who are experiencing difficulties in this process.

I'm waiting for Xuemei to get the Visa in hand and then I will purchase 2 tickets on Delta for nonstop flights to the ATL, with God's grace they will be here in the next 3 weeks.

Grats! Great to hear the good news

  10. Thanks everybody!

We plan for him to be here before thanksgiving.

Have any of you purchased tickets before visa in-hand or is it really really prudent to wait until he's got it (in his hand)?

I'm so anxious...I want to buy the ticket now!!!

    haha

 :D Great news for a great day! ;) :toot:

It's better to wait...we got a pink during the interview and made plane reservation(but we didn't buy).

When we went to pick up the Visa, we ended up with a blue slip. My wife is going to pick up her visa next week...but we won't celebrate till she actually has the visa, we learned from the last disappointment

  11. Well it looks like my wife and I have one more shot at it. Our interview is in November. I never dreamed it would have taken me 3 years and 8 months from my first filing, then denial, and now to an IR1. I do not see any reason on God's earth that we should be denied for as we have covered all bases. But as I tell everyone, it is up to the person behind the window as he/she has the final say.

It will be our 2nd wedding anniversary, our 4th year anniversary of meeting, and our first anniversary of buying our first house together. Yes indeed, November has been a very good month for us. Let's hope the tradition continues. :icecream:

Good luck! I met my wife in November and if everything goes as planned, she should be here with me 2 years later in November.

  12. ummm... I am certainly no expert on this, but can anyone give us examples of a Guz based (or any lawyer for that matter) that has successfully held a (221g- non bonifide NOID or any white) at GUZ and got a reversal to pink in the last 2 years ?

i'm with you rob. i've seen cfl members advise others to get a lawyer in guz to fight the white, but i'm unaware of any success stories.

Ever since the new acting IV Chief has taken over, things have been changing a bit. Perhaps PP is on a forced vacation. Just maybe she has made some changes in how business is done? Who knows....... :cheering:

I'm interested to hear if any one has actually fought a white that was sent back...I have yet to hear a successful story myself.

The common response I get when I tell friends and family that my wife's visa was denied is, "can't you sue the government?"

And I say, "the US Consulate isn't like the police department!"

  13. I received a response from GUZ on Monday and they told me they mailed out a "Call-In Letter for Visa Continued Processing" on 10/06/08.

I wanted to find out if the "Call In Letter " means Visa Approved or a 2nd interview so I called DOS just 10 minutes ago and this is their response.

Operator- "On 10/07/08, your case was updated to show Administrative Processing."

Homer- "Are you sure? What does the computer screen say? GUZ told me my wife was going to receive a Call-in letter."

Operator- " Yes, it say Administrative Processing."

Homer - "So what does that mean? Why did GUZ tell me my wife was going to get a Call In letter?"

Operator - "I don't know what it means because my computer screen doesn't tell me, it just say "Administrative Processing." You'll need to get the Call In Letter from your wife and have her follow the instruction."

So the short answer is, don't panic if it's from DOS because AP can equal still under review, making a decision, call in letter sent out, or you're SOS.

AP = Call In letter sent out in my case(it better be!!!!).

Only panic if it came directly from GUZ.

  14. What really piss me off is all the phony marriage they grant Visa too. And they have the nerve to tell me our marriage is no real. Unreal....boiling with anger everytime I think of it.

That's why I stopped coming here...get too angry

  15. I know how it feels...you really don't understand the roller coaster emotion you live through when some government deny you a chance to live with the person you live. It's a horrible helpless feeling. First it's denial...then it's anger, then you move on to acceptance.

Good luck, don't give up and let those punks win. Make them work for the denial. I write them every week...I don't go down that easy!

  16. Hi everyone,

I'm just curious --- regarding the call-in letter. My husband just found out his "call-in letter' arrived at the post office...he has to go pick it up...we're holding our breath.

I read on another's post that a "call-in letter" will say three things and one of them will be checked:

    1. congrats get your visa

    2. get your visa, but bring some evidence we need

    3. we need a second interview

    ???

Can anyone tell us if anyone has ever had a second interview and WHY Guz would schedule a second interview ?

We're just curious... my husband cannot get to the post office until 2 more days because he's helping his parents out of town...

    Any words will be helpful!!

    Thanks!

    :)

They said they sent my wife a call in letter...pray the lord it's visa approved! GUZ is just trying to wear us all down!

  17. 4 months later and I finally received a response from GUZ today.

They said they sent my wife a "call in letter" on 10/06. I'm waiting this is a Visa approval and not another interview.

Seems like a "call in letter" can = visa approved or another interview.

This has been the longest 4 months of my wife and I just want our life to move on. It's been really tough having your life hang in limbo.

  18. Jay,

I 'm in the same crap as you are. I provided 5 folders of documents to my wife to present to the VO, yet, they never asked for any of the documents except for the Affidavant of Support. They gave us a PINK after the interview, but we ended up with a BLUE when we went to pick up our VISA. I am so mad because we prepared all the documents, but the Visa Officer did not ask to see any of the documents that is now asked for in the Blue Slip.

It has been over 3 weeks and GUZ keeps telling me, "Your case is being reviewed by a Consular Office."

What the hell takes them 3 weeks to review?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

    I'm so mad.
