My wife (yay now married) and I go to the SSA building in Chicago and fill out the form to apply for a SSN. She was denied because she checked the box Legal Alien NOT allowed to work. We checked this box because at our POE the officer there drilled my girl for half an hour telling her that she cannot work inside the US until she receives her EAD. So back to the SSN, the worker that denied her the SSN underlined a clause in "Legal Alien NOT allowed to work" saying she "MUST provide a document from a U.S. Federal, State, or local government agency that explains why you need a SSN". How does she go about getting a SSN now?

What is needed for this segment of the AOS? My wife did her medical in Shanghai and received only a small booklet of information regarding the examination. The rest of the forms were sealed and not touched at our interview in GZ. At the POE (O'Hare) the forms were all taken. Do we have to do another medical exam again? Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

My girl entered the building at 7:30 and ran downstairs at 9:07. She was the first one of the day to be interviewed and got pink! Questions 1-6.) All related to what date I entered and exited China in my three visits. 7.) Have you met his parents? 8.) On what two dates did he return to China to visit you? (somewhat odd question) 9.) How many siblings does your fiance have? Apparently a lot of people received blues that day as reported a young lady who stayed at the same place as us. She also received blue and came out at 10:50 and told us nobody else had received pink. The VO said very little and spent much of the brief interview on the photos and asked my fiance to identify each person in some of the photos. Only last year's tax returns were viewed. We stayed at Mr. Zhong's home. He and his wife were very helpful in preparing our documents and know a lot about the entire process. I wish you all good luck!

The EMS tracking shows the package arrived. I e-mailed GZ but they replied that it has not yet been received. Is this similar to the NVC - GUZ stage where the packet has arrived in some mailroom but not yet picked up and logged into the computer or is something off here? Thanks.

They should transfer, doesnt matter it was not taught in English. I am in the same situation. Praying on a interview before the end of the summer. She is in her third year. Just departed for home for the winter break. Which brings me to a thought. My fiance is studying in a city outside of her home town. Does she need a police certificate from that city and her home town? Thanks for any info anyone might have!

She's in her second year at the University right now. We've both decided that she will restart school here. She's studying English right now so none of the credits will transfer and none of the politics (marx and mao's theories) will transfer either. She's pretty much back at square one anyways. Thanks for the input all!

Thanks for the information. My fiance will be dropping school after this spring semester in hopes for a summer interview.

Is it frowned upon or a basis for rejection if the beneficiary is in school during the time of interview? It's pretty obvious that if the beneficiary is attempting an interview for a K visa that she doesn't care about the school or not? Anyone have experience or thoughts on this? Thanks much.

Thanks for the welcome and reply. I'm in college and currently have no income. However, my parents exceed the 125% required and together we plan to sponsor my fiance.

Hi all, I'm new to this process and have just discovered this amazing plethora of information. I'm quite nervous as this is my first post on CFL. I'm wondering if me, a college student living at home and commuting (due to cost of living on campus as opposed to home), will have a negative impact on the K-1 process. My fiance and I are both young (20) and I still live at home to help negate some of the extreme costs of college. I commute to school everyday and I'm planning on moving into an apartment near my university in about a year from now. Will this have a negative impact on my fiance's petition? Thank you all for your time. Ricky
