I know you don't want to divulge information regarding your case, but was the RFE as simple as a request for additional info (like in our case), or did they just fail you without any further evidence to collect? Sorry to hear about your ordeal, but hang in there!

We think that the AOS process is so much better. Not only is it much faster, but most of the process doesn't go into a black hole (a la the P2-P3 wait for instance). RFEs are also done in a very timely manner (we usually got answers back a couple of weeks). And since we got most of the necessary information up front from the K1 itself, there was also no need to data gather and go through strange Chinese government/notarization/medical offices. It also helps that we can do it together here in the USA and not absorb the difficult separation (like with the K1). Time really flew by fast!

Sure enough, today we received our AOS approval notice! Thanks for the help everyone! Compared to K1 filing, AOS was a breeze!

Just a bit of an update: We should of known better, but we were RFE'd again by USCIS: - need notarized copy of mother's residency letter Our initial IO did not state it needed to be notarized (even when he queried him during the interview). We assumed he would be overlooking this case, but instead another IO (that's the 4th IO to look over our case) reviewed it and sent back an RFE otherwise. It's partially our fault, as we should of gone the safe route, but it is still a bit disappointing. Moral of the story: if in doubt, just play it safe and notarize everything to avoid possible delays.

So my wife and I went to the interview yesterday. We had not 1, not 2, but 3 Officers interview us (2 were supposed to be only "observing", but that didn't last too long). Our interview was straightforward....the Officer asked my wife a whole slew of questions concerning how our relationship started, how i know she is the "one", what it means to be "married", etc. For a while there, I thought I was seeing a priest instead of an AOS officer. Finally he goes to our paperwork, notes that: 1. Our medical forms were not completely properly (doctor forgot to check off 5 boxes!) and 2. I had no proof of residency (this is because i live in one of my mother's home). He asks us to send these documents back to him via certified mail and "everything should be in order". Strange interview to say the least, but should easily be able to complete his requests.

fwiw - we received our AOS interview letter a few days ago and checked our case online anyways...still no status there.

fwiw - our EAD case was updated with the proper status, but our main AOS status is still unknown after 2.5 months.

how much to give to the girl's parents?

if you are going through with a dower, i would advise giving in increments of 8's: 888, 8888, 88888 rmb (my amount), etc.... -
Strange, I barely had a dozen titles subtitled in Chinese with my old DVD collection...with Blu Ray, there are quite several dozens now with more on the way. Note: I never imported titles, only looked at US released ones. p.s. added a few more titles also.

Hiya Hello123, How is the home theatre market in China? When i was perusing around some of the stores, they seem to have outdated stuff or 2nd tier brands at best (strange considering most of the products are coming from China hehe). Until someone figures a way to copy blu-ray in china, i don't think the prices will come down, as it seems the mindset there is well against any retail media medium, since you can get it a similar CD/DVD/etc. on the street corner for 10rmb or so.

As i said, this is for technophiles on the cutting edge of newer technology. I discarded my 200+ DVD collection this past year moving to BD once the HD format war was over. There's nothing like watching true 1080p movie on a 50"+ bigscreen with frame interpolation with it (I use an HTPC to a Sammy 52" LCD TV)....no offense, but if you want to gripe about costs, benefits of going to BD, might want to start another thread instead of diluting this one.... ps. Added Zohan....

One of the joys of going to Blu Ray is the international support of the BD movies, particularly in the subtitles. Since my wife isn't 100% fluent in English yet, this helps us immensely enjoy the movies together while letting her learn better "Americanese". I'll add more as i find them (feel free to contribute to this collection, but remember must be Blu Ray title only)....enjoy:

eek....i inputted (a)(6) for eligibility when i mailed my forms, instead of ©(9). Will this be a problem and be flagged for RFE?
