  1. My wife has flight tickets to match passport into China. Back into the US, they wanted to see her Green Card. The first time she went home, when she came back, She gave POE officials her old green card (maiden name) they did not accept, she brought it along to match passport. POE already had updated info, she also had the new card and they let her through.
  2. I am also going back for Spring festival, leaving Jan 18. Got my Ambien Advil, GasX, ImmodiumAd, AlkaSeltzer Cold+ also. Jet Lag Killed the first trip. Sister in-law got me some medicine that laid me out, but no sleep.Turned out it was Valium you could buy over the counter then, bought a bunch of boxes later, but no more are sold now.She got some sleep medicine later. Later trips,I Go down into Syracuse and fly to Chicago and eat lunch. When we board to Beijing , have 1 mixer and down 2 ambien, this about noon to get used to time change. We get to Beijing about 4, then Tianjin about 6. Feel like crap , but go outside and walk to some shops, then about 9, 2 more ambien and good night. I do also pack comfort food, more than clothes. Also, I fly United and pay the money for the Mileage plus section, not much more leg room, but there is always seats open so I sleep across the 3 seats next to the windows.
  3. I have never done more than one connection with any airline going to China, I refuse to take a flight that takes longer than a total 17 hours for me to get from Dulles International to Beijing. Usually fly a short hop to Newark and fly Continental to Beijing. Have flown direct, twice, on United from Dulles...opps, sorry to disagree, both times I got the cheapest United flights on Travelocity. tsap seui Travel velocity? yeah right, got any examples? here's one: http://travel.united.com/ube/shopInput.do?...ngPageFlag=true http://travel.travelocity.com/flights/Sele...defaultCheckout Both same dates, times, stops. Well, gotta ride, no biker posers here that's right we ride to Sturgis, no trailers there uh Tsap.
  4. Anybody that is a little short on miles for a free United trip, check around their site for a program called "Miles + Cash". Wife's trip in May with July return is 35,000 points + $468 for direct roundtrip to Beijing. Also, there are no travel websites that offer cheaper United International flights than United direct. Yeah,Yeah, Blah, Blah some may say they do, but with 2-3 connections or other incidentals.

  6. Kaige, For stocks and not mutuals, look into anything automotive, manufacturers, parts suppliers etc. We are into Jiangling Motors Corp and Lingyun Industrial Corp. We got the money for those from the China Mobile Stocks wife had for a awhile and dumped last year. What I see that is going to be hot stocks, is any company that gets contracts with anything enviromental, cleanup technology, the cleanup eguipment, recycling. Got one right now that is getting ready to ship the equipment to China. For the longest time, I liked everything abroad especially my Janus Overseas Fund, but looking here stateside now and my best pic is........ Ford Motor Company. Got them when they down to about $6. good luck.

  9. Maybe some do and some don't, we did. We never recieved DS-3023, I think that was the choice of agent form.
  10. Why don't you ask what she wants to do. My laopo wanted to be married in her home town surrounded by her family. No, she did not want the ceremony thing and then the actual marriage here. For myself, it was a great experience of a true traditional Chinese wedding along with day long process of the making of the wedding book beforehand. The signing of the papers felt more like a visit to the Justice Of Peace, but the wedding party was incredible.
  11. IR5? how hard was this process? and how long? My wife's dad just passed away and she wants her mom to come here.
  12. Making name change BEFORE AOS is the best procedure. Changing after is a COSTLY issue, need to file an I-90 to change name on Green-card, THE FEE is $370 We married, and set name on marriage cert to married name, and then filed I-485 using married name, the resulting green-card has married name. We also applied for SSN using married name as well as D.L. Dan, We are getting ready to send in the I 751 for lifting of conditions (CR1) since she entered 5/8/2008. She wants name change. Her 1st name, middle=her last name, Last= my last name. do name change now, then SSN, Then DL. any problems you see may happen? In may she will go to Toronto, then to China to see family finally. Should not be an issue. Dan, one more thing. Her card will expire May 8, she needs to travel back to China in late May. will the expired card cause problems upon re-entry to US? need to carry NOA from the (I751) green card conditions removal?
  13. Dan, we have a NYS Chinese manual.
  14. Added wife today here in NY state. Cost for filing was $180. Got forms from county clerk's office. Picked up some quit claim forms from Office Max, filled out 2 forms (1 for county and the other for the CR1/CR2 removal of conditions filing that is due soon) brought to Bank Of America to get notarized then back to clerk's office for filings.
