MARRIED YESTERDAY!!!! Now move on to all the paperwork for the next step. Thank you all for your help so far. Thanks to all those that helped me directly and those that contributed to this site. All of it was a tremendous help for us. Aloha Ed, Lifeng, and Lichuan.

It took us about 2 months to get the DNA test done and about 1 month after that for them to review our case and additional financial self employment documents. As others have said it depends entirely on what they are requesting. Good luck.

Aloha all, Great news!!! My loved one received her visa approval letter on May 23, 2009. She is now in Guangzhou to turn in her passport for the visa for her and her son. She has only slept a few hours the last two nights. We are all excited and buzzed. It feels so good to know that she will be headed here to Hawaii soon to start our new life together. I will post more later when she actually has the visa in hand. Thank you all for your support and for every one who has posted their experience and information on this site. It made the journey much easier and possibly made it happen. I do not know what I would have done without the information provided in this site. Mahallo to you all. Ed

Aloha nandj, When she got her blue slip at her interview one of the requests was for her and her son to have a DNA test. They also required more self employment information from me. I understand that they are requiring more and more DNA tests to establish parentage. It takes time and requires an additional $750.00 for the test. The actual test only took about one week to do and it must be done by a lab in the U.S. What takes the time is to get the sample done. They schedule a time where the fiancee and the child need to return to the consulate for a doctor at the consulate to take a sample. The doctor is only in 2 days a week. This requires another trip to Guangzhou which means another flight and a hotel room and food $$$$$. They have a back log of 2 to 3 months to have the DNA samples taken. Very frustrating for a sample test that requires ten minutes or less to do. They will only take the samples in Guangzhou. I have heard that people are getting married so children can be brought into the U.S. I do not know how much truth to this there is but there are a whole lot more DNA tests being required. Hopefully since they have not requested a DNA test yet they are not going to do so. My fiancee also had very few photos of her son growing up. I do not think that the consulate interviewers really realize how different the lives of our loved ones were living in China. My fiancee only has a childhood photo taken on her 100 day celebration. She said it is a Chinese custom to take your child's photo at that time. This is the only photo she has until she became an adult. Good luck and Mahallo for your reply.

Aloha, Finally have web access on my land and hope to be more in touch with you all. Update: DNA test has been submitted, tested and the results returned to Guangzhou. My updated self employment documents and proof of ownership of land have been submitted for a couple of months. Sent Guangzhou e-mail requesting a status report on May 3rd and they replied that they had received the DNA results and that the visa request was on the waiting list. Does any one have any idea how long this waiting list is or any idea of how much longer before we will have some type of answer as to when the visa will be ready? I see by many people's timelines that they usually received their visa 3 to 4 weeks after submitting all requested information. Getting tired of all these waiting games. I am sure all of you have had these feelings at some time in this process so I apologize for any venting. Mahallo, Ed

Aloha to all. Sorry for not posting earlier. LiFeng got a blue slip. I have been busy rushing around getting the necessary requested documents. Mostly about my self employment financials. She also has to have a DNA test on her son. Hopefully all of the issues will be answered to their satisfaction. Again I am sorry for not posting sooner. I have been without the internet for several months and have just gotten it installed at my new house site. I am off the power grid up here in the jungle on the side of the volcano. Pretty basic living but very beautiful here so one can put up with a lot. I will post more since I now have internet. Aloha Ed

OK great news! We finally have our interview date!!! Here is the weird part. If you look at my time line you will see that we received the P# package on Lifeng's birthday. We received the P4 package and appointment day on Christmas Day. The interview day is on my birthday. I don't know if this is just one very big coincidence or if someone is having fun at the consulate. Either way we are looking at it as very good signs about the outcome for the interview. I only wish I could be there with her for the interview but like I said before the cost of building a new house and a trip to Guangzhou are too much to handle right now. Wish us luck. Aloha Ed

Aloha, I just talked with my fiancee Lifeng a week ago about a friend of hers in Qingdao who was going to have to go back to GUZ for another interview because her fiancees lawyer stateside did not include all of the necessary documents. They are upset that after paying $3,000.00 they have to go back for another interview. Save your money, read the site here and you will be much better off. Good luck.
