Question about FEEs

Recommended Posts

Yes there is a fee paid in Guangzhou, it is paid the day before interview at document intake.

Keep in mind you are dealing with two sepreate departments of the government, DHS Immigrations, the fee paid with I-130 is the petition fee to pay for immigrations petition processing. The other department is DOS which operates the consulate, this is the visa application fee paid to Guangzhou, or if petition were filed in the states, fee paid to NVC.

Visa fee is $330 + $74 or $404.

You'll need to pay for your medical vaccinations/exam, (for my wife 1200+ RMB) - Pay at the hospital

You'll also need to pay for your (upon successful interview) visa processing. If I remember correctly, it was like 40 RMB. You'll pay that after the interview @ the China Post inside the consulate

If you pay the IV application fee prior to going to Guz, you won't have to pay that again

EDIT: Opps, forgot this one,

Total price for today's consulate fees: 400 USD (355+45). Jingjing also paid 40 RMB to have her EMS package mailed locally to the Yang's.

On Dan's link above it might be beneficial to also look at the "more information link" as the fee schedule hasn't been updated since last year. That being said, I'm not stating that those figures are inaccurate

Kyle, I think they raised the Visa fees a little since your go at Guangzhou.

Is now $330 + $74 ($404) http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1263.html#perm

One bonus of doing DCF besides the SPEED, is you don't have to pay that $88 I-864 handling fee, that NVC charges when petition is filed in the states.

But yes, need to add in the additional expenses for things like Medical, Vaccinations, and Postage for packet after interview.

As for IV application fee paid prior, yes if paid to NVC in the states if petition is filed in the states, however in DCF cases it is paid directly to consulate the day before interview.

Thanks Dan, I figured the fees that I paid back in late 2009 were outdated.
