  1. At one time Korea was a protectorate of China. Isn't that the same excuse China used to annex Tibet?
  2. Sarcastic statements like "now it's the president's fault" is too political. I personally find that offensive. This is a serious issue where a passenger was treated very badly. Keep your political views out of it.
  3. It's a matter of intent. If she comes to the US with the intent of circumventing the visa process, you marry and she stays here it's visa fraud. As Dan said it's risky. If she came here with the intent of visiting and you couldn't bear being apart, you marry and she stays it's perfectly legal... but there is significant risk. It all depends on whether or not the interviewing officer believes you or not. If she comes here, you marry and she returns to China to wait out the visa process that is perfectly legal without any significant risk.
  4. Interesting stuff. I would bet money that the US is involved in this somewhere.
  5. I like this. At events like this they cease to be a nameless faceless them and become real people.
  6. One of my childhood heros. I remember being glued to the TV during his historic space flight. My sister had a quarterhorse that was born the day he went into orbit. She named her Glenna.
  7. Please be careful not to let this thread become a Trump bashing or Trump praising thread.
  8. My ex wife is a flight attendant for Delta. She mainly flies to Japan and back once a week. The pay and benefits are decent and she seldom ever works over 80 hours a month. It takes a long time to get enough seniority to hold a good route but there are also interesting trips you can pick up when you're on reserve. I don't think she's ever worked 24 hours straight. The length of the flight is it for international flights. They also get sleep breaks. Constantly changing time zones can be hard on your sleep rhythms though. My advice is if you find it interesting go for it.
  9. Every husband should find his wife beautiful. My wife is 59, she's still a damn good looking woman.
  10. Bing doesn't touch my guitars. She doesn't mind them at all. I think she gains face from her friends and co-workers because they are in awe that I can build them.
  11. Having been married to a Japanese woman and currently married to a Chinese woman I can tell you there's a little bit of truth in all of those statements. There are a lot of differences but also some similarities. Like most Asians they are both concerned with not losing face. My wife is probably not typically Chinese. She's not greatly concerned with how much money I make. My ex was always after me to to figure out how to make more money. She would also nit pick over trivial shit and never forgot a past misdeed. Bing on the other hand doesn't pick at me and once a misdeed is made and resolved it's forgotten. My wife is definitely not #13. She would never cause me to lose face in public. She has no problem berating me in private though. I will relate a story that points out some differences. When Bing and I first married my ex wanted to meet her so she invited us over for lunch. I wasn't crazy about the idea but Bing wanted to meet her so I grudgingly went along with it. Japanese people are polite to a fault. They could hate your guts and you would probably never notice it. Chinese people can be incredibly blunt. About half way into our visit, with Junko being the polite hostess and serving us with great care Bing came right out and point blank says "why divorce?" Junko was taken completely off guard and after some hemming and hawing stuttered something about people growing apart etc etc etc. Bing wasn't buying it. after we left she told me she then understood what I had previously told her.
  12. I think it's pretty obvious that China wants to usurp the US as the world's leading superpower. They want control of the entire South China sea and it's resources. One only need look at the 9 dash line to see how ludicrous that is. A line in the sand has to be drawn in order to maintain important shipping lanes. Only the US has the military might to do that. I wonder if they have the balls. Perhaps a massive armada taking a long slow cruise through the area might get the point across.
  13. An unmarried son or daughter over 21 takes about 8-10 years. My wife and I filed for her son after she became a US citizen in 2008, We are in the final stages of the process now.
