Maybe we can somehow get into contact with Rupert Murdoch about our plight. He's a media mogul, and he can relate somewhat to us, although his journey probably took much less time than ours.

Hi again. In the "Annoucements" part of this website there is a scanned copy of the pick up letter, which in turn asks for the photo.

Only if that checkbox for bringing the newspaper is checked. But in this letter, only the box for bringing the passport is checked.

 

But, you're right this option does exist.

Hi All,

 

This is the first I have heard of this newspaper photo requirement, and I have read through many sites and official documents on immigration. To my recollection, nobody has encountered it as a requirement during the interview.

 

My thoughts ... for those who are just starting the process, and for those petitioners who are going to China between now and the interview, I'd say it probably wouldn't hurt if you have a few bucks for a newspaper. However, if you've already visited and didn't take such a picture, I wouldn't lose sleep about.

Just read the letter in Anouncements. I do believe this will be used if the consulate for some reason believes that the petitioner may be deceased.
