Sending Stuff to China

Hi,

 

What's the best way to send stuff to China. I previously sent stuff via the U.S. Postal Service. 2 out of the 4 times the stuff never arrived. Is FedEx or DHL to best way or is there another way to gurantee arrival?

Depends on wherre. I use UPS and it gets there in 3 days. Fedex doesn't go everywhere.

USPS is cheap if you don't mind a long delivery time. UPS is very good but costly. Be sure to allow time for packages to get wrapped up in customs.

Check out courrier services if you live anywhere near a Chinatown. I am sure they will have a Chinese service. I use one in Monterey Park. Costs 60% less than USPS and guaranteed delivery in 5 days anywhere in China. On Chinese holidays they give 10% off.

Dan is this from China post? I'm not far from SF and work near there often. I have been sending pictures weekly at about $6.50 for airmail. Not bad, but I don't want to get in trouble if Jennifer learns I could be saving money.

We have used FedEx in the past and our packages were delivered.

 

A bit expensive though, I just paid over $90 to ship 5 lbs of documents to Shanghai for our interview. A small price to pay to get the documents there safely.

FedEx is good to major cities, I was told they don't deliver to Fushun. I spent $70 to send Jennifer a gift for Valentine, aprox 1 lb. Seemed ridiculous since the stuff was originally made in China to begin with.

I use Guaranteed China Express out of LAX. For air letter you are doing fine with that price. Packages are where the savings are with this service. Just check around SF Chinatown. I'm sure they would have something like this there. If they don't you can show how you checked the prices and used the cheapest. Good husband material, she'll be proud. B)

 

I was told to stop sending packages because the things are cheaper in China, oh well. . Although she just sent a request for something she needs while she waits there.

I'm hoping the package thing will be done now. I get the same about how stuff is so much cheaper there. We had that debate a while ago about her engagement ring. Wether or not to get there when I return or back here.

I purchased Jialu's here in the U.S.

 

I have done extensive searching for things like this in China and what he said above is correct. They do not have the same gem classification as we do, so you can get screwed..or not...your gamble. Me..I bought one here that I can upgrade at any time with the original purchase price going into the upgrade..

I have used USPS with good results for packages and letters. Be careful about sending things. Letters are more apt to be received than packages. Also, if you put the address in both english and chinese, you will have better luck.

 

Fedex and UPS do not deliver to our city. DHL does, but they are way more pricey..

Just curious, when did you first mail your K1 Application ?

However you send it, include her address in Chinese!

English only should get there but it will take a week or two longer, by my personal experience.

Not to keep off topic, but thanks for the ring info. I remember some of that from back then and reverted this back to the "i don't know catagory" On the recipt issue I need to see if I can locate the recipt for the pendant I gave her a year ago. I'm glad you mentioned that so I sure to have it.
