June03
Can I go to the interview at the GZ consulate together with my fiance? Link to comment
warpedbored
The US citizen has to wait outside but it is still a good idea to be there. The beneficiary should take the US citizen's passport in to show the VO they are actually in GZ and waiting. Link to comment

tonymasiello
I don't know if it was ever different or when it changed, but these days, foreign US embassies and consulates are under heavy security because of the threat of terrorism. NY-Viking
Okay... I can't go in... ...wonder why...Well think of this way .. they're interviewing your fiancee, not you. While it's true that you could provide lots of help in the interview, lots of other fiancees might be obstructive. They need a chance to interview the foreign fiancee to issue that person the visa; if the USC is there, they might not be able to do so. You can of course enter the consulate at around the same time and go to US citizen services if you need pages added to your passport, want tax forms, say hi, register, etc., but you can't go to the visa area. The official reason I've heard was that they used to allow US citizens in with the applicants, but that they don't have enough room inside. Take it for what it's worth. Link to comment
yyp
Ho wimportant does everyone rate for the petitioner to be outside so they can take your passport in to the interview? We have been planning on my being there...now we are thinking of saving my vacation time for a little trip to Maui. Link to comment
