Billy Graham Passes at 99

Born in 1918 in Charlotte, North Carolina, William Franklin Graham Jr. was the oldest of the four children of William and Morrow Graham. He was raised on a dairy farm, and little in his childhood suggested he would become a world-renowned preacher. RIP.

He went to school at what is now called Florida College, right near Temple Terrace, FL just north of Tampa. At one time the security people applied for an automatic weapons permit from the State and also applied to have a fence with the top barbed wire turned inward, instead of outward. Inward means you are trying to keep people IN, not OUT. Women were not allowed to wear any dress shorter than their knee, no heels, no make up, no drinking, no smoking, no dancing, no, well, you know.... I understand that has changed.

Women who were former TT students were just like former Amish women. Very flexible in their newly found moral values, IYKWIM.

But Billie Graham I will miss really. No one could deliver a sermon like he could. He is worth watching (they show reruns and I watch them) for their public speaking lesson alone. His diction was perfect. He always made a good point. He was a little too heavy on the religion stuff for me but I always enjoy a secular message. He did modernize the language of the Bible, a major accomplishment even if it was slightly biased.

He always wanted to be a preacher.

Yep, I remember his sermons on TV many times. I never was much on TV evangelist like him, Oral Roberts, Baker, and Schuller. I may be WAY off here and I am not questioning his faith what so ever but I always thought that there was a great emphasis on money. An ole guy that owned a mom and pop country store down the street about 200 yards from where I was born went and had Oral Roberts pray for God to relieve him of his Polio. I honestly do not remember how much he paid but it was a GREAT amount and it did nothing for him what so ever. I think that everyone knows what the Bible says about rich people and wealth.

Here is the link. Far too many for me to post here. If you are interested take a look they speak for themselves.

For me and me alone I had rather go to a good old fashioned tent revival with one of those fire and brimstone pasters. Of course they want money too but very few are rich if any.

God doesn't sell miracles but takes payment in faith.
