I-751 Waiting and Temporary Letter... how long?

Recommended Posts

We filed the I-751 back in 4/2017. But they seem to be stuck, and have been stuck at processing that form in 8/20/2016 for nearly three or more months, eight months before we filed. The temporary green card expired in 6/23/2017. The temporary letter expires on 06/23/2018. Will they send another letter? Or do we have to wait between 06/23/2018 until they finally send the results of the I-751 before we can travel abroad again?

I read in another thread where Daniel Noblett suggested making an Infopass appointment to get another extension and also a i-551 stamp for your wife's passport.

Also, the I-751 does not need to be complete if considering applying for citizenship at 3 years of residency based on marriage to a US Citizen. You can always file an N-400 at 90 days prior to 3 years of residency (probably around may of this year), doing so may jumpstart the stalled I-751.

One warning about travel abroad, an I-551 stamp in passport acquired from an infopass appointment should handle exit control in China, and reentry to the states.

The issue is, what if USCIS schedules an interview for removal of conditions while you are out of the country?
