Glen Campbell Passes At 81

Recommended Posts

Campbell died Tuesday around 10 AM in a Nashville facility for Alzheimer's patients ... according to a source close to his family.
The musician released more than 70 albums over a 50-year career, and had a series of hits in the '60s and '70s including "Gentle on My Mind," "Wichita Lineman," "Galveston," "Country Boy" and his best-selling single, "Rhinestone Cowboy." RIP and may God have mercy on your soul.

In that video (one of my favorites) he's playing a baritone guitar, one of the very few who did.

So far, I am not hearing or reading in the bio's that are out that he was always one of the top guitarists (in country: he, Roy Clark and Chet). I remember him doing a duet (which became a guitar dual) with George Benson and it was one of those rare instances of broadcast tv exceeding iour expectations.

Campbelll is a Scottish name, and Glenn Campbell also appreciated his family heritage and knew how to play Scottish instruments like the Highland war pipes...
