Doug
Wow I am surprised. I think Carl was the first person to send me a PM to welcome me to Candle and talk about woodworking, because of one of his stores in the DFW area or something. Did he finish his guitar? How about Bing? Well anyway, best wishes. PS: He helped keep this website alive. Now I refer people I know who need help with the immigration. Thanks to Carl and Y'all. chilton747
Here is a PM from Carl talking about guitars. You can feel his love for them.. I have two more I'm working on now. One is a Martin OM style and the other is my most ambitious project to date. It's a commemorative guitar I call the "Daddy Frank". My father's name was Frank and he always liked Merle Haggard's song "Daddy Frank" My dad loved Gibson curly maple guitars. I still have his old Gibson ES 175 Arch top. This is the guitar I would build for him if he were still alive. It's based on a 1959 Gibson J-185. It's curly maple back and sides with an Engleman Spruce top. 24.56 scale same as a Les Paul. I am going to use black white black binding and purfling, bind the neck and use the traditional parallelogram pearl fret markers. I'll be sure to take some pictures of the show. I'm taking my first guitar and the parts for the Martin OM to display. It's a guitar heaven. You would love it. Many of the luthiers encourage accomplished guitar players like your self to take their guitars into a music room to play it. " Link to comment

Catherineli
I have not been on CFL for quite a while but now just at this moment, I got such a sad news. In the begging I thought you guys were joking for fun. Carl was one of my first friends here on the forum. Life is short. From now on, I must often visit my friends. 5 Link to comment

Urkidding
WOW! I haven't been here in a while and things do change. Carl... He was a very nice guy, Even was nice to me. We pm'ed a lot and like Charles, we talked about his guitars a lot. I remember kidding him about spending too much time here on CFL and how it was going to turn his hair grey. http://i66.tinypic.com/bg8etc.gif He told me he wasn't worried because he didn't have any. So I told him we could make some for him and that's when I came up with the Chia Carl picture. http://i68.tinypic.com/5meme.gif Carl was very special to a lot of folks here and he will truly be missed. http://i65.tinypic.com/212dbg7.jpg RIP Carl 2 Link to comment
