Project Fi - My Experience

Hey, I just wanted to mention that my girlfriend and I use Google's Project Fi cell phone service to communicate and it works really well for us so I wanted to recommend it to other people in similar situations.

 

1. $10 per gb LTE data service in China and all over the world, American phones don't need a vpn service to get access to facebook, gmail ,etc.. Pay only for the data that you use. My friends who went on the trip with T-mobile only got slower speeds, but fi gives you full LTE!

2. $0.01 per minute phone calls to china. You can make calls from the USA to a Chinese phone number for a penny per minute. This is great and no calling card is needed!

 

The only downside is:

 

1. 0.20 per minute phone calls from the sim when in China, better off using a local sim for voice when you are there.

2. Supposed to use their phones. You can actually put the sim in other phones and it will work, but you need to activate it in one of their phones to start and only a few phones work.
