NickHua
My wife and I hope to get our I-130 and I-130a approved. I have a question about when it comes time for the interview. I have my tax transcripts for 2015, 2014, and 2013 this includes the account transcripts and return transcripts. Will this be enough? I can't get 2016 yet will this be a problem? Thank you Link to comment
dnoblett
If your interview falls after the normal filing deadline they can and often do request a copy of the most recent year's 1040+Evidence or extension. Link to comment

Thank you The account transcripts are not needed - you are showing your income (as on the return transcripts) - NOT the status of your account with the IRS. The return transcripts aren't needed either - copies of your return will do just as well, if you haven't received the transcripts yet. Return transcripts are nice, but most sites place FAR too much emphasis on the value of them over copies of the actual return. That is to say - have your 2016 return ready to turn in, even if you haven't mailed it to the IRS. They can and often do demand them beginning in April. Don't wait for the transcripts for 2016. Randy W
We have just had our interview, 2016 not necessarily needed) Yes - like Dan said, April 15 (April 18 this year, I believe) is generally the cut-off, although they HAVE been known to (very rarely) ask for current tax returns in April BEFORE the due date, and they MAY let you by w/o the current return even AFTER that date. Point is, BE PREPARED! 1 Link to comment
