Are Chinese Consulates still conducting mobile passport renewal?

My wife's passport will expire next month and there is no information regarding mobile passport renewal on the website of the Consulate of jurisdiction (San Francisco).

Rare to non-existent. I haven't heard of one in a long time

Another option if she is considering it is to naturalize and become a US Citizen, and apply for an American Passport.

I'm sure you've seen the post on VJ - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/628630-china-visa-for-minor-anyone-gone-through-this-yet/?do=findComment&comment=8527058- where Chris and ZhiJia mentions that the DC Embassy paid a visit to Kentucky. That won't do you much good, but at least they ARE still occasionally making these little "outreaches".

Update, at the end of March, the Consulate in SF posted information that they will be visiting our city for this purpose this month (one week from today to be exact).

Update, she was ultimately able to obtain an appointment when they visited in August (you have to get an appointment for these things, something we didn't realize last spring) and received her new passport a couple of days ago.

How did you get the appointment? Where on the website did you see the mobile passport renewal? I can't seem to find any information on the San Francisco Consulate website and there is no way to get through on the phone. We are thinking of just going to San Francisco to walk in and see what we can do. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can renew a passport in person at the consulate at any time

Hi, would appreciate anyone helping with the following? My spouse will be going to renew her Chinese personal passport at the consulate in New York soon. Will the consulate retain her current passport together with the other documents she will be submitting? I am asking this question because she needs to use her current passport for overseas travel while waiting for the new one. Thanks.

No - they will let her keep it, and cancel it when she gets the new one. She can retain it even then.
