Advice needed on I-130, new Form I-130A

Recommended Posts

Advice needed on I-130 My wife and I will be travelling from Chengdu to Guangzhou. We will DCF the first of April. We talked to Guangzhou yesterday. The man told us we need to turn in a Form I-130a. I haven't ever heard of this form. The form is about my wife's biographic data. She signs this form. My question is how does my wife sign this form? Does she sign in Chinese characters or pinyin? The forms my wife has to sign how is she supposed to sign? Thank you for all of the help

Your signature is a personal mark. How does she usually sign her name?

If she wants, she can use this opportunity to adopt an "English" signature

The form you will file is the I-130. The supporting documents are listed in the instructions, but the form the man referenced was probably this one - G-325A, Biographic Information

. . . and look here, under DCF - Direct Consular Filing of I-130 Petitions with USCIS Offices in Beijing or Guangzhou

The man was very clear about the Form I-130a. We know about G-325a we need to fill out two of these forms. One for my wife and one for myself. Thank you

It's apparently a brand new form, dated 2/27/2017 - see https://www.uscis.gov/i-130- all the more reason for you to switch to THIS edition of the I-130, if you haven't done so already.

I see the title of the I-130 instructions even mentions it - Instructions for Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, and Form I-130A, Supplemental Information for Spouse Beneficiary

Using the two forms together is probably your best choice.

NOTE TO ALL SPOUSE BENEFICIARIES: If you do not completely fill out this form or fail to submit required documents listed in the instructions, USCIS may deny the Form I-130 filed on your behalf.

You might also check to determine if the G-325A hasn't been eliminated - I don't see it in the instructions.

This is from I-130A Instructions. CLINIC supports a national network of community ... (apparently a review of the - at the time - proposed changes)

Although it is not stated in the Federal Register Notice4 or the related supplemental materials found at the regulations.gov website5, it appears that USCIS plans to eliminate the use of Form G-325A, Biographic Information, by way of offering the revised Form I-130 and new Form I-130A.

I thought I posted a link to USCIS I-130 page the other day referring to the updated form, there you find both I-130 and I-130A forms.

The OLD Form I-130 with two G-325A's is (supposedly) valid until April 28, although the man nher talked to at Guangzhou apparently didn't know this.

The NEW Form I-130 requires the completely NEW I-130A form instead of the G-325A's. There is no previous edition of the I-130A.
