A camping we will go. Maybe. Question.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I found a nice small portable solar rechargeable camping 6 led light, cheap. I think it would make a cheap present for some of the guys at work. I would like to buy 6 or 8 of them. I already bought one. I was playing around with it and i thought it was kinda cool, bright and useful. The question I have is if I can I bring back them on the plane with me. I am worry that they will will be taken away from me when I check in because of the batteries that they have in them. Any ideas? Thanks. Danb

I can't tell you the answer to your question but I can tell you from being a firefighter for 29 years on a military base that lithium battery's have been greatly improved but can still be unstable. Our requirements was that spent one had to be contained in a 55 gal. metal drum with a seal-able metal lid. That was for large quantities of large batteries but for small ones like you are talking about they many not be of any consequence. If no one here knows or has any experience best to call the airlines that you will be traveling on.

Better than having them taken from you. Sounds like a nice item to have.

Thanks guys for the replies. I did google the questions earlier but I didn't get to that FAA site. There is some good info there. One of the problems that I am having is that I can not easily take the flashlight apart to get a look at the battery. There are similar ones Amazon that cost $12. I can get them for $5.5 a piece. The only info that I found on my flashlight is that the rating is 800 mah which is rather small and under the limit I think. i will try to contact China Eastern and see what they say. Thanks again.
