It is "charged" per visit, good for one year. We'll be taking a trip to Zhuhai in a few days while the concrete dries in her building. We can cross into Macau from there, but only one entry for her. Mick Posted October 25, 2015 Report Share Posted October 25, 2015 I visited Zhuhai back in 2000 or so, while on holiday from the University. Took bus to Zhuhai from Shantou. Stayed in great hotel on the waterfront. I was frequently asked if I wanted a "massage" in my room. Also, I would advise avoiding the barber shops down by the Macau border. There are three other women here at the moment, including his wife. So I'm way out-numbered by Nationality, language (they all speak Yulin-hua), and gender. I have my heart set on some good Western food, including the St Pauli Kommune restaurant (owned by "real Germans"), and the Copa Steakhouse in Macau. We'll see what the ladies have in mind. The trip here was through some fairly hazy weather, although the skies cleared the further south we got from Guangzhou. We had hung around at the casino for an hour waiting for them to open. Seen in Macao - I'm not sure what these people were doing, other than taking up a bunch of pixels, but, whatever it was, it began yesterday. At a police checkpoint on the freeway, they held up a line of cars while I was asked to show my passport - only the second time that's happened. The other time was a few years back when a hotel clerk noticed that I had been in the country for a year and a half on an L visa. Randy W Posted November 1, 2015 Author Report Share Posted November 1, 2015 I've circled the approximate areas of the Hong Kong and Macau SAR's on this map, although I'm unsure of which islands fall under Hong Kong jurisdiction. Randy W Posted November 1, 2015 Author Report Share Posted November 1, 2015 There is supposedly a bridge to join Macau, Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and/or Shenzhen in the works, to be completed in 2016, but I think the only activity at present is around Hong Kong and Shenzhen. This map shows some of the places we visited around Zhuhai and Macau. Zhuhai, of course, means Pearl Beach, while Zhu Jiang is the Pearl River. Mick Posted November 2, 2015 Report Share Posted November 2, 2015 That is one great photo, Randy! The shapes and colors are, as you say, splendid in so many ways. The tree and its root structure slightly offset from the center draws the viewer's attention to a perspective that allows the entire scene to sort of unfold at once. I know that sounds weird, but these sorts of things are hard to put into words unless you are well schooled in artist lingo, which I am not. Love your photos. Keep them comin'! Posted November 4, 2015 Report Share Posted November 4, 2015 Mmmmmm ....... lamb skewers We were at a restaurant in Beijing and looking at the lamb skewers, this after 10 days out west eating lamb every day.Of course, we love these ..... But we were overdosed on lamb by then. The cook said "try these, we soak them in onion water for 10 hours and it removes the lamb flavor". I can confirm that is true, delicious and not lamby.
