Mr. Don
Hi all. My stepson's Chinese passport expires this year. We were going to go to the consulate in San Fran next month but are having a hard time getting in touch with anyone at the consulate to tell us what we need to bring. We went online and my wife found some infomation. Anyone have experience with the San Fran consualte and renewing their Chinese passport? thanks all Link to comment
dnoblett
Not at my PC at the moment, but is sure it has been posted about before.Look at topics tagged Passport Renewalhttp://candleforlove.com/forums/tags/forums/Passport%2BRenewal/ In all cases renewal involves a form, passport photo, fee, old passport and green-card. The page on the SF site that has the form should be here: http://www.chinaconsulatesf.org/chn/qianzhen/t554559.htmPassport picture requirements: http://www.chinaconsulatesf.org/eng/lszj/hzlxz/t312958.htm I have seen a few posts where they don't like passport picture you bring and have you get another nearby. Just to add to your comment; about 12 years or so ago, my ex-fiancee (Taiwan) went to the Taiwan embassy in Seattle. We had a photos with us and they didn't like them. We were sent to a photographer nearby in Seattle and had new photos done on the same day. Been such a long time, I'm not sure about the paperwork. warpedbored
My wife renewed hers In SF about 7 years ago. I doubt it has changed much. Go early there's a long line and it's first come first serve. Take a prepaid Fed Ex envelope for them to send it to you. I think they were in cahoots with the passport photo people inside since they didn't like the photo we brought with us and made her do it again there. Also parking near there was a hassle and the cops love to give out parking tickets. Link to comment

After flying to Houston and taking a cab to the consulate her photo was refused and she was sent to a photographer in China town! Link to comment
