o2jfmaj5gja
I was wondering the impact of having the letter of intent signed but not having the actual proposal would affect the K1 application for a Chinese citizen? Was hoping to get a head start on the paperwork since I won't be able to get a chance to get to China until the Fall. Link to comment
dnoblett
A formal proposal is not required to file the I-129F, the requirement is having met in person sometime in the past 2 years, and a signed letter of intent, either a joint letter or two letters one from petitioner and one from benificiary. You could propose by email and simply attach a printout of the reply with the petition if you like. A good example of a letter of intent: http://www.visajourney.com/examples/Fiance_Letter_of_Intent.doc My wife and I used this form letter. Link to comment
o2jfmaj5gja
Thanks for the reply! I'd like to actually do the proposal in person, so it is good to know that all I need is the letter of intent. My only concern left is, would this negatively affect the interview process? Not sure if this would be viewed negatively. Link to comment

Example: VJ Fiancee Letter Of Intent (This is the form letter my wife and I used.) Link to comment
