Renewing Chinese Passport Houston

Recommended Posts

I have a few questions on this, us the current price still 55.00 plus the 5.00 service fee, and do they take the photos at the consulate, last time they did not like the ones we had and they sent us to a photo place as they did not do the photos there at the time but have read that people have had them taken there? Thanks in advance..

They do not take pictures at the consulate. They do have a walgreeens next door that they may send you to. If you follow the standard guidelines for passport photos, they will accept them. I just did the wife's and son this last summer usining my HP printer w/ semi glossy paper and they accepted them with no problems.

Someone else will have to answer the fee questions.

My experience was that when their photographer was there and the camera functional, they would always reject your photos (no matter how professional or exact) and have the photographer take them (and charge I think $10).

If they weren't taking pictures for some reason, they would either accept what you brought, or send you next door if you didn't.

Going through a visa service eliminates that issue.

We got a new passport for Jiaying, but I don't remember the fee.

Keep in mind the Chinese consulate will not allow passport renewals via visa service, only can do in person. I believe only elderly can use visa service for passport renewal.

According to "Chinese Passport Law", effective January 01, 2007, Chinese Passport extension will not be performed any longer. Instead, applicant must apply for passport renewal. According to Chinese Consulate policy, most applicants are required to apply in person at the Chinese Consulate. For details, please contact with Chinese Consulate directly,

Yes - forgot that. Be sure to take a trackable mailer (Fed-Ex or USPS) envelope so they can mail you the new one (a 10 year passport). She'll need to show her green card.
