Am4wag
Already filed online DS-160 for both parents. Now getting things together to send to parents (invitation letters, copies of marraige certificate, tax returns, etc.)Do the invitation letters need to be notorized?Do we need to generate an affidavit of support,or are the tax records enough? dnoblett
Invite letter does not need to be notarized. I-134 Affidavit of support can have a tax transcript attached, in the case of a visitor, not K-1 the I-134 can have light financial evidence attached, it is showing that you are willing to support visitor at most 90 days. Am4wag
So would an I-134 be a good idea ? Link to comment
dnoblett
So would an I-134 be a good idea ?Yes, it is recommended in the the parent visit thread: http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?/topic/8469-visitors-visa/ For example Shanghai mentions it, for some visit visa types such as student visas, but it does not hurt to have one handy in cases where family is visiting on a B2 http://shanghai.usembassy-china.org.cn/visas/visa-types/dependents-f-2-j-2-l-2-h-4.html Link to comment
Am4wag
Alright.....getting it all together to send to parents so they can take it from here.Thankyou as always dnoblett........ Link to comment
david_dawei
The invitation letter should explain everything the VO needs to understand... without it being a novel. Short and to the point. but an I-134 for sure.. which may only be nothing more than a feel-good financial to them. Link to comment
Am4wag
Mother in law went to bank to pay for both app. fees. She is good to go,as she is apt to have an interview in Beijing (under 80 years old). However, the lady at the bank instructed mother in law that father in law needs to send a written application to Guanzhou,as he is over 80 years old and not apt to be called for an interview. Now here is where this is sounding a bit crazy. On both confirmation/barcode pages for the online DS-160,to the far right is the Beijing consulate's address.Bank lady told mother in law that father in law's app. confirmation page needed the Guanzhou consulate's address-beings he is'nt required for interview. Both apps. have already been electronically submitted to Beijing,as that is the embassy for Tianjin.-so what has to happen now? dnoblett
Sounds like bank is confused, this is not an Immigrations visa case, Guangzhou would be the consulate to deal with if were interviewing for an immigrant visa. Sounds like bank is confusing the Visitor B-2 visa with immigrant visas like K-1, and IR-1. Follow the procedure here: http://beijing.usembassy-china.org.cn/niv_howtoapply.html Link to comment
Am4wag
Man this is a mess (we're here and they're there). It's looking like it's all due to the fact that both app.confirmation pages are addressed to Beijing-but father in law's needs to be sent to Guangzhou (hand written ?).Can't he just use the drop of service and send his app. confirmation page to Guanzhou? Are'nt all the embassies "linked",as far as anything submitted electronically? dnoblett
Yep further reading: http://beijing.usembassy-china.org.cn/drop-off_for_minor__aged.html in father in law case, it looks like Guangzhou would process the visa app due to age 80+. Not sure if they will issue a visa to him based on outcome of his wife's interview, they may decide separately. Anyway, I believe he will be allowed to attend mother-in-law's interview, and they can explain that his application was sent by the bank to Guangzhou per lock-box service. Link to comment
Am4wag
Wife just called the bank in China.Man she spoke with informed her that as of just last month,ALL applicants that are not required to attend an interview (80 and older/14 and younger) need to electronically file DS-160 through the Guangzhou embassy (only).Wife says China itself made this change (HHhmm)...oh well, looks like we'll be fileing another DS-160 online......to Guangzhou this time.Hope the fact that we already filed once does'nt mess things up.
