Would anyone be willing to help me translate?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I wrote a half-page explanation of our situation, and would like to post it as the main document under www.candleforlove.com.

Would anybody be willing to help me translate the main site document into Simplified and Traditional Chinese? I would be incredibly grateful!!! :P :P :P

Thanks very much!

P.J.

enight,

Thank you very much for your translation help, and please convey my sincere thanks to the 001 girls and guys for their help!

Mark, please ask Jiajun to get in touch with the 001 group, to avoid duplicating efforts. I'm sure her assistance with the translation would be very welcome by the 001 group.

enight, as far as transferring the file goes, please post it in a separate subject and message me when it is finished, and I can upload it. Or if you wish, you could send it directly to me, I have added my email address to the "Contact list". My email supports both traditional and simplified Chinese.

Thanks,

P.J. :P

Jim,

Chinese characters will post in the forums, unfortunately not as well as I would like. Basically, you have to manually set your browser encoding to GB2312 (most sites, if you have Chinese installed, will automatically be set by the page).

In IE, if you right-click, choose Encoding, and then "Chinese Simplified (GB2312)" from the drop down, you should see the characters displayed correctly.

For all those interested in the technical issues involved:

The main page, once we have the Chinese translations, will automatically set the correct language for your browser when you click on the "Simplified" or "Traditional" button at the upper right. Please try it, you should see the Copyright text at the bottom in Chinese.

The reason I can't do that here in the forums gets into a lot of very specific programming for internationalization issues but basically is because the same PHP pages are used for displaying *ALL* posts, I cannot distinguish between English and Chinese, so I set the context in the header to English.

I have started looking into doing Chinese forums, but have been too busy with other initiatives. :P

Thanks,

P.J.
