Passport Renewal

Hi,

 

It's been awhile since we've been on this wonderful site and you folks have always given us great advise and now I need some more. My wifes passport will expires in May and I need to know what we need to do to renew it. We live in Montana and we need to know if we can renew by mail or have to go to the consulate? Also, any other help would be greatly appreciated.

This has been a big subject lately.

 

Anyway you must do it in person, no mail service, however some may allow you to provide a prepaid envelope to mail back to you.

Now here is the CRAZY thing, your counselor district MT is serviced by the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC and normally you need to visit the counselor office for your district, however if you make a try for renewal in San Francisco more than likely you can get it handled there.

Other option is to simply travel to China prior to passport expiration and get it renewed in China. My wife did this last summer.
