GUZ cases go by DHL and can taks some time reaching the consulate, GZO are transmitted electronically to the consulate. Link to comment

To bypass it quickly: hit "1" as soon as the guy starts giving his message, then "0" during the second message to speak to someone who can check your case status. Jingjing and I called two days ago. Yes I do have GUZ case number.Looks like your lawyer did not know about the new electronic processing at NVC for China Immigrant visa cases, if knew about this new process you would have a GZO case number.
