Do you have to use GZ?

I've read the many threads about GZ and how messed up it is, so I was just curious, is it required to use GZ? There is a Consulate in Beijing, Couldn't that be used?

No, the consulate in GZ is the only place that issues visas.

is required to use GZ. No other Embassy/Consulate is set up to handle the paperwork, there is no substantial staff count elsewhere in China.

 

There are OTHER options inside of OTHER countries, but if you are looking to marry your woman and her move to USA to live with you, it makes more sense ( at least to me ) to have the petition adjudicated in Guangzhou.

 

Of course, YOU could give up your American Citizenship, become a Citizen of France or Germany, and then handle the immigration process with your new country's immigration office, but is it worth the move to you, just to avoid the IV unit at the US Consulate in Guangzhou ?

Actually the Embassy and other consulates issue NON-Immigrant visas like Visitor, Business, and Student visas.

 

HOWEVER, the only consulate in China with an IMMIGRANT visa unit is Guangzhou, so if immigrations it the intent then you will be interviewed in Guangzhou. This includes the NON-Immigrant K-Visas.
