I am an american citizen, who was living & working in Shanghai for about 3 years. We used the DCF method, and sent our application forms by mail to Beijing. We applied for the normal immigrant visa -- not the fiancee visa (we were already married at the time of filing) Here was our timeline: 9/29/08 - sent I-130 forms to Beijing 10/6/08 - forms delivered and signed for at Beijing office12/6/08 - (will have been 2 months since receipt of I-130 forms)12/10/08 - received email from Beijing reporting that the app was received on 11/6/08 and is now under processing12/17/08 - phone call with beijing, said app processing is almost complete, and would send corresponence in next 1-2 wks1/18/09 we receive p22/5/09 we receive p32/13/09 mailed back p3 form (application)3/13/09 ems tries to deliver package4/7/09 interview date in guangzhou4/9/09 picked up visa in guangzhou Hope this info is useful! thanks and good luck to everyone Link to comment

We've never heard of anybody mailing in a DCF application, let alone to another city. Any reason why you didn't do it in-person at the Shanghai consulate?
