OT: Jet lag and random musings

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Hmm, it seems I am the only one on Candle right now ... only one who can't sleep at 4 AM.

I had zero jet lag when I went to China. Was so proud of myself. Seems I'm getting double right now.

Over the past few days, I tried to help my fiancee troubleshoot her computer from afar. I think this has been one of the greatest technical and language challenges I've faced in my life.

I learned how to say ...

":" (colon)

"/" (slash)

"\" (backslash)

" " (space)

in Cantonese, as well as "keyboard", "virus", "modem", "ethernet card".

I'm sure this vocab will come in useful someday ... somehow.

P.J. ;) :D

Suffer 1 day and you'll get right back on track!

Amen...and it really is suffering.

The very day I got back from my last trip, I had to entertain friends from Indonesia before they departed the next day. I was exhausted, but we played till midnight. Normally, the jetlag takes me a week to recover flying East. This time was only two days.

Force yourself to keep normal sleep times. Find some good distractions/activities to force you to stay awake. Eat light...fruits and veggies. No booze.

Hello PJ, if you want to get real drastic, you can get a job like mine, drive truck from coast to coast, always changing time zones, always the worst when going west. :D  ;)

Try working 11pm to 7 am Monday thru Friday, and then change over to a 1st shift schedule on week-end so you can be normal! Fridays and Mondays are real killers. Glad i am back on 2nd shift now!
