PJ
Hi All, Okay, I *should* know better, but I'm going to ask anyway ... Do I need to bring a copy of my fiancee's birth certificate back to the U.S.? We're here in Taishan City (her place of birth), so if I need anything like that, now would be the time to get it. By the way, it sure was a lot of work, took a ton of time, for this paperwork. Here is what I was planning on completing while I am here in China: 1. I-129F second page where you have to write the Chinese address2. G-325a, which needs her signature3. Statement of intent which needs her signature Everything else I figured I could complete stateside. Thanks, P.J. Link to comment
Q&Q
Yes, PJ, you need to bring a copy of your fiance's birth certificate to America. When you first file the petition, you need to send the birth certificate together with the I-129. Good luck! Q&Q Link to comment

Dave G.
PJ... Here's a checklist of everything I sent the service center. JM will have to bring some of it with her again, but at least I knew they had it. Remember...I'm a big believer in over-kill and redundancy. Some of the info isn't required until the interview....they want it? They'll get so much of it, it'll make them either happy or sick. http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/_950/greedy.gif __________________________________________ K-1 Visa Checklist Immigration and Naturalization Service Forms & Fees: - Cover Letter with Pictures- Fee: $110.00 to Immigration and Naturalization Service - Form I-129F: Petition of Alien Fiancé(e) (Dave & Jing Mei) - Form I-134: Affidavit of Support (Dave) - Form G-325A: Biographic Information (Dave) - Form G-325A: Biographic Information (Jing Mei) Intent to Marry/Proof of Relationship:- Letter of Intent to Marry (Dave)- Letter of Intent to Marry (Jing Mei)- Supplemental Information to Verify Relationship: Copies of Passport Pages Showing We Were in Hong Kong Simultaneously (Dave) Copies of Passport Pages Showing We Were in Hong Kong Simultaneously (Jing Mei) Email Lists Copies of Phone Records Copy of Visa to China Copy of Plane Tickets to China Immigration/Legal Documentation: - Passport Information (Dave) - Birth Certificate (Dave)- Passport Photo (Dave) - Passport Information (Jing Mei) - Birth Certificate (Jing Mei) - Passport Photo (Jing Mei) - Passport Information (Dai Qing) --- her son---- Birth Certificate (Dai Qing) - Passport Photo (Dai Qing) - Divorce Decree (Dave)- Divorce Decree (Jing Mei) - Translated Divorce Decree (Jing Mei) - Supplemental: Employment History (Jing Mei)- Supplemental: Criminal History Information (Jing Mei) Link to comment
chinadave2001
PJ, it is not required for this part of the process. Yours is. On the other hand, the more things that you include the better I think, as I am fairly convinced that some kind of screening takes place at this stage which later determines the difficulty of one's interview. dave Link to comment
cisco10s
Hi Be sure to bring at least one extra (three would be better) certified copies of the birth certificate (with translations) to the U.S. when you come. The BCIS will take the one that you show at the interview in GZ and you will need another certified copy to adjust your status. (AOS) We are having to send an Aunt to Summer's birth place to obtain some extras. Good Luck Link to comment
lilybotelho
When your financee goes to the local notary public office to have her brith certificate notarized, the office will make certified the birth certificate in duplicate. After she turns in one birth certificate on the interview date, she will still have another one. She may go back to the same notary public office at any time to get a copy with about 10 Yuan if she needs more. And it's very simple to get the birth certificate notarized too. She just needs to bring her family Hu Kou Ben and her ID to a local police station which is in charge of Hukou, then tell them she needs a certificate from Police station with Seal. Bring that certificate with Hu Kou Ben and her ID to local notary public office, they will issue her notarized birth certificate in duplicate. Link to comment

The I-134 should be prepared later and let her bring it to the interview. You should also sent photos of you and your fiancee (her family too)together in China. Birth certificate of the Chinese fiancee is not required for I-129F. You should sent in your Citizen (naturalization paper) instead of birth certificate if you weren't born in USA. Mick
PJ, when your fiance gets the birth certificate at the local office, I would suggest that she insist that they give her at least three copies. GZ will keep one, and you need one when you file AOS. Link to comment
Argyle
HI PJ, Chinadave and Francine are correct. You don't need a copy of her birth certificate for the I-129f. She will need it for her interview at GZ, and again when you file the Adjustment of Status. By the way, Eric has a great post on the things you'll need when you're ready to file the adjustment of status forms! Best Wishes Link to comment
