What have people been doing for part 3:

 

Intended date of departure and expected length of trip?

 

We don't have any specific plans, should we make a guess or leave it blank?

 

Also,

 

I assume we don't need to provide a separate sheet for explanation of how we qualify for AP because we are filing the I-485 together. Is that right?

Make a guess, they do not set the AP for that date.

 

Only explanation that you need to provide is "To be able to return home for personal business, to visit family, etc."
